Newly-launched Chery SUVs receive strong response; 3,000 units sold in 10 days

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery's comeback in Malaysia has received an overwhelming response from customers, as the brand achieved an impressive sales milestone. It has sold a total of 3,000 units within a mere 10 days of its official launch.

The automaker’s local lineup comprises two models - Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro, locally assembled at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah. 

Both SUVs are offered with a 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty extension option at an affordable price of only RM 2,000. This is in addition to the standard warranty package that comprises a 7-year or 150,000 km mileage warranty and a 5-year free maintenance package (labour only, excluding parts).

The Chery Omoda 5 is a B-segment SUV available in two variants - C and H, priced at RM 108,800 and RM 118,800. Both trims come equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four engine which makes 156 hp of maximum power and 230 Nm of peak torque. The Omoda 5 rivals the likes of the Proton X50, Honda HR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, on the other hand, is a 7-seater SUV, which is offered in a single Luxury variant in Malaysia, priced at RM 159,800. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo four-popper petrol mill producing 256 hp and 390 Nm. The Tiggo 8 Pro competes against the Proton X90, Toyota Innova Zenix, Mazda CX-8, and Kia Sorento.
