LEAPMOTOR C10

Available in two colour themes – Criollo Brown and Midnight Aurora, the cabin of the Leapmotor C10 has a premium vibe to it. The overall design of the dashboard looks very simple, with the C10 having a 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console behind the two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre console. The slim AC vents are placed in a sleek rectangular housing that extends from one end of the dashboard to another. 

The Leapmotor C10 also has a wireless charging pad and two cup holders in the lower centre console, with this electric crossover having 18 smart storage spaces and 8 cup holders. Along with the flexible seating adjustments, the C10 also has a cavernous boot compartment measuring up to 1,410 litres. The C10 also has other excellent features like a 12-speaker audio system, 360-degree panoramic camera, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, leather seats, powered, heated, and ventilated front seats, and rhythmic ambient lights.

With an MPV-ish stance and design language, the overall appearance of the Leapmotor C10 looks purposeful, with it having a decent road presence and a couple of interesting highlights. However, this is not a vehicle that will stand out from the crowd or attract eyeballs wherever it goes. It looks smart but has a functional appearance. 

The minimalist and simple-looking front profile of the Leapmotor C10 has stylish and sleek V-shaped housings for the LED projector headlamps. These headlamp housings are connected by a thin strip of daytime running LED connecting the headlamps across the fascia’s width. The lower half of the front bumper has a large trapezoidal air dam in the middle and C-shaped air curtains on the sides.

The side profile of the Leapmotor C10 has a boxy and MPV-ish look, with the electric crossover having 20-inch machined alloy wheels, flush-type door handles, and door-mounted rearview mirrors. Like the front profile, the rear of the C10 also has a simple appearance with a connected LED light bar joining the sleek combination LED tail lamps.

The Leapmotor C10 has a soft-tuned suspension setup with Macpherson struts at the front and a multi-link at the rear, which gives this electric crossover a supple ride quality. The three driving modes – Eco, Standard and Sport – offer well-differentiated performance and steering feedback, though we would have loved the steering to have a more well-weighted feel at higher speeds.

The standard variant of the Leapmotor C10 on sale in Malaysia has a rear-mounted single-motor setup, which produces a maximum power output of 215 bhp and a maximum torque output of 320 Nm. With this electric motor, the C10 does the 0-100 kmph run in 7.5 seconds and claims a top speed of 170 kmph. The Leapmotor C10 also has a 69.9kWh battery offered as standard, which delivers a maximum range of 424 km (WLTP-certified) and takes 30 minutes for a 30-80 per cent charge using an 84kW DC fast charger. 

The Leapmotor C10 has basics like hill descent control, dynamic brake function, hill start assist, anti-rolling program, multi-collision brake, front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system and traction control.

This electric crossover also has premium ADAS functions like adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, traffic jam assist, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, emergency lane keeping, door opening warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert and braking, intelligent speed assist, driver drowsiness alert warning, and advanced driver distraction warning. 

While the Leapmotor C10 might not have the strong brand recall as other Asian and European all-electric vehicles, it does offer a well-rounded package with a comfortable, practical, and spacious cabin that is equipped with modern features and decent performance, all at a competitive price.
