Mercedes-AMG GLA & GLB updated for the model year 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: After introducing the all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, the German automaker has now revealed updates for its AMG lineup.

The automaker has introduced 2023 GLA and GLB models with a bunch of new and innovative features, many of which are standard.

Parts of the update are -

• Newly styled front apron with AMG logo
• Front & rear signature lights for a strong visual statement
• Standard LED technology with MULTIBEAM LED headlights optionally available
• Same color wheel arches as the body tone (in GLA)

• Latest-gen AMG Performance steering wheel with a button to access important functions and driving programs is standard
• State-of-the-art MBUX infotainment system with an AMG-specific screen & expanded functions
• Mini-games
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity

• Higher USB charging performance
• Additional USB-C port
• Inclusion of several driver assistance systems like Active Lane
• Keeping Assist
• Next-gen Parking Package supporting parallel parking with 360-degree camera-assistance
• New 19-inch, 10-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels in bicolor matt back tone with turned surface finish
• Two 20-inch AMG wheels in a five-double spoke design, available in bicolour matt black with turned surface or wheel flange (optional)

• New protective covers for the standard sports seats
• AMG performance seats (optional)
• ARTICO man-made leather and MICROCUT microfibre in bahia brown tone
• ARTICO man-made leather in black/sage gray tone
• Leather seat covers in red pepper/black
• Belt-driven starter generator (RSG) and an additional 48-volt on-board power supply as standard (in GLA 35)
• Mild hybrid 2nd-gen RSG function
• A power boost of 14PS
• 48V technology for improved comfort

What powers the new GLA 35 and GLB 35 4MATIC?

Both the Mercedes-AMG models are powered by a 2.0-liter R4 with an exhaust gas turbocharger generating a maximum power of 306 PS at 5,800 rpm along with a peak torque of 400 Nm at 3,000-4,000 rpm.

They come with AMG Performance 4MATIC variable all-wheel drive system and AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G dual-clutch transmission.

On the performance front, the GLA completes the century sprint in 5.2 seconds, and GLB takes a little more time at 5.5 seconds. As for the top speed, the two models limit it to 250 kmph.
