Lexus Malaysia teases the upcoming RX crossover; few details out

KUALA LUMPUR: Get ready people, a new crossover is on its way and this one is from Toyota’s luxury arm, Lexus. We are talking about the 2023 Lexus RX that made its global debut almost one year ago. While the car’s arrival has been in the news for quite some time, this is the first time an official teaser has been shared by Lexus Malaysia.

Moving onto upcoming Lexus RX details (based on the rumors, nothing is official yet) -

Variants

The upcoming RX is expected to be offered in two variant options, namely the base RX 350 Luxury and range-topping RX 500h F Sport. In the global lineup, these two trims represent the two extreme ends in the crossover’s range.

When compared to other regions, the Lexus RX lineup in Malaysia stands out as we are the only one with a non-electric version of the RX 350.

Globally the car is offered in two more variants - the RX 350h and the RX 450h+.

Powertrain

The entry-level RX 350 Luxury is powered by a 2.4-litre inline-four turbocharged engine making a maximum power output of 279 hp and a peak torque of 430 Nm. The drive is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic gearbox.

As for the range-topping RX 500h, it gets the same mill as the 350 Luxury, however, with a parallel hybrid setup. The additional e-motor on the rear axle boosts the total output to 373 hp and 550 Nm. Paired with the engine is a 6-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to all four wheels via a Direct4 all-wheel drive system.

The globally available RX 350h and the RX 450h+ get a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre inline-four engine. While the former gets a single e-motor, the latter gets two (one on each axle).

Platform

The all-new 5th gen Lexus RX underpins the new TNGA-K platform which is responsible for several good changes.

Features

Not only does the new RX look amazing, but it is also loaded with several outstanding features that appeal to the users. For instance, a revamped ‘Spindle Body’ grille, cleaner body lines, sharper lighting, a 14-inch touchscreen information display, and much more.
