Lexus Malaysia starts taking orders for its all new ES Series, starting at RM259K
Kuala Lumpur: Lexus has rejuvenated its order books with the addition of its refined sedan in three flavours to choose from, marque ES 250 premium, ES 250 Luxury and ES 330h.
This news came just two weeks after the first sighting of facelifted Lexus ES. We are not yet sure about the arrival date of this car in Malaysian markets but the entry is expected in August or early september before the arrival of Lexus' IS200t.
Lexus tweaked the cars and so does their prices, which are on a higher side this time. The ES 250 Premium is starting at RM259,200 while for its Luxury line you will have to loose RM278,600 and the flagship variant is priced at RM355,100. All the preceded prices are OTR excluding the insurance.
The facelifted variants of Lexus ES are more mutated in the visual designs than the engine tweaking. The updated versions received a reworked fascia on the front with a unique Spindle grille and Lexus' iconic daytime running LED's. The ES 250 Premium and Luxury variants are anchored on 17 inch 20 spoke aluminium wheels, whereas the hybrid variant features 10 spoked 17 inch alloys. Moving to the rear the Lexus ES features an aesthetically crafted L shaped lamps which thoroughly melts into the X shaped tail chrome details protruding a cohesive finish.
As we talked earlier, Lexus has not tweaked much on the mechanical side of this car as the newer ES 250 variants are powered by the same 2.5-litre four-cylinder engines with 2AR-FE block and Dual VVT-i technology, whereas the ES 300h features the same engine but this hybrid car is coupled with a unique sets of pistons and minor cams twist to augment its fuel efficiency, Although the real addition to 300h is Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system.
The power mills of the ES 250 harnesses 181hp at 6000 rpm with 235 Nm of torque whereas the Atkinson cycle four-cylinder mill paired to a 105 kW electric motor of 300h churns out 202hp and 213 Nm of torque.
The changes on the interiors of the face-lifted version can be felt with the latest three spoke multifunction steering wheel in wooden trims. The opitron instrument clusters backed by three way auto air conditioning and 10 way adjustable power seats take comfort to a whole another level in the new Lexus ES.
Lexus has premiered the all new ES featuring its Lexus Safety+ platform which inculcates advanced safety features like Pedestrian-detection, Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane departure warning, Emergency braking, Adaptive headlights and Cruise control. Besides that, the ES base model comes with a wide range of passive safety features such as 10-airbags as standard, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Hill Start assist, Traction Control and Tyre Pressure Warning System. However, if you spend some more bucks on ES 250 Luxury and ES 300h variants than features like Rear Cross Traffic alert and Blind Spot Monitoring System will also be added to the safety fleet of this luxurious sedan.
