KUALA LUMPUR: A few days back, we got to know about an all-new Land Rover Defender Convertible limited-edition model created by Heritage Customs (a Dutch coachbuilder) and not by the Land Rover. Well, now comes an official special edition model, dubbed as the Land Rover Defender 30th Anniversary Edition.

- Besides these classic and rugged elements, the Defender 30th Anniversary Edition also benefits from modern stuff like the Cold Climate Pack, Tow Pack, Black Exterior Pack, and Off-Road Pack.
- The automaker sprayed the exterior with Fuji white shade to evoke the look of the original 1993 model.
- Paired with the classic paint are 18-inch Gloss White steel wheels and a heritage badge on the rear representing which number it is in the series.
- The SUV also features premium LED headlights, front fog lamps, air suspension, 3-zone climate control, air quality sensor, Land Rover Activity Key, and Ebony grained leather seats.
Under the bonnet, we find no difference as there lies the same 2.0-litre turbocharged in-line four mill, which produces a maximum power of 300 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. It comes paired with a twin-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive. The Malaysian-spec Defender base model also runs on the same mill with a 3.0-litre mild-hybrid inline-six making 400 PS and 550 Nm available for the higher variant.

Land Rover offers this special edition Defender for $76,350 (RM 332,391) in the US, almost $19,150 (RM 83,369) higher than the Defender 110 S with similar options added. But, we are sure the wealthy Americans will be ready to pay extra for the badge and the exclusivity.
Well, in Malaysia, we have to pay a lot for imported SUVs. The Defender 110 2.0L retails for RM 798,800, whereas for the Defender 110 3.0L MHEV, one needs to shell out a hefty amount of RM 998,800. The prices include a 50% sales and service tax exemption.
