Invictus (Preve-based) wins first prize at Creative Car Challenge
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2018 PD3C (Proton and DRB-Hicom U Creative Car Challenge) has just concluded and it couldn’t have been better with the participants coming up with some visually magnificent models. This competition was held at DRB-Hicom U campus which is situated in Pekan.
The first prize was an award of RM 7,000 along with a gold medal which was won by APU (Asia Pacific University). They won the prize for their Invictus, which is a car based on the company’s sedan Preve. The runner-up position was grabbed by the Universiti Malaya for their “Scrumptious Food Car”. This was built upon the Proton Saga and helped them win RM 5,000 along with a silver medal.
The second runner-up position and a bronze medal was collected by Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin for their Deutro, which was a dual-tone concept model built on the Proton Suprima S. And lastly, the Creative Car Challenge concluded by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, who built an entry named “Envysage”, which was, again, based on the Preve.
Moreover, there were some special prizes for the Creative Car Challenge too. And the winners of the special prizes were Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (the maker of Deutro) for the Best Teamwork, UniKL for the Best Engineered Car for the design of Iriz Infinity, etc.
The next contest was of the Modelling Challenge in which, the top prize was won by UniSZA, followed by Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan and Universiti Teknologi Mara on second and third positions respectively. The award included a prize money of RM 2,500, RM 2,000 and RM 1,500 for the gold, silver and bronze positions respectively.
The last category was the Design Battle, which was again topped by UniSZA’s Abdul Halim, while the runner-up was by Ahmad Zul Khairi bin Mohd Othman (also of the same University). The third position was taken by Khoo Wern Sheung from APU.
The Proton and DRB-Hicom U Creative Car Challenge is an initiative where Proton is the main player and contributes the base cars for the participants to work on. The Malaysia Design Council is the technical partner.
