Hyundai Malaysia previews Special Edition Sonata and Starex
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM), the official distributor of Hyundai cars in Malaysia has introduced two special edition models - Hyundai Sonata SE and the Grand Starex Executive Plus SE. During the Hyundai Roadshow that happened this week at Mid Valley Megamall, the special models were on display alongside the all-new Elantra and Santa Fe. Let’s check out the details of the new iterations.
Starting with the Hyundai Sonata SE, the premium sedan looks more striking with the styling tweaks outfitted with a red color scheme. On the front, we can see a blacked-out grille teamed up with 19-inch wheels, prominent sills, and black decals on the sides, accentuating its sporty stance. At the rear, there is a sleek black trim on the ducktail-style tailgate along with fins on the top of the tail lights. The sedan also features the “Geared for Distinction” badge on the side, which is Hyundai Malaysia’s slogan.
Well, apart from these cosmetic mods on the exterior, Hyundai kept the Sonata SE unchanged from inside where it already boasts best-in-class features. Included in the list are a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a head-up display, automatic dual-zone climate control, Qi wireless charging pod with cooling function, and so on.
Powering the Hyundai Sonata SE is the same 2.5L Smartstream MPI engine producing 180 PS of maximum power and 232 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with shift paddles that transmits power to the front wheels.
Moving to the MPV, the Hyundai Grand Starex Executive Plus SE is decked up in N-style with enhancements like a body kit with a red lip, big 19-inch wheels with red brake calipers, and Performance Blue paint. Just like the Sonata SE, there are no interior and mechanical changes here also. The sporty MPV continues to get power from the same 2.5 litre turbo diesel mill generating a maximum output of 170 PS and a peak torque of 441 Nm. A five-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels.
Lastly, Hyundai has kept the prices of these special models unchanged. This means you can grab the Hyundai Sonata SE at RM 189,888 and the Grand Starex Executive Plus SE by paying an amount of RM 163,888.
