The Honda Civic Hybrid is slated to go on sale in the US this summer.Previewed in the Sport Touring trim, the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid sedan boasts a new front grille and a redesigned bumper reminiscent of the Civic Type R. It is equipped with new wheels having a distinctive 6-spoke design.
Additional features are also in the pipeline for the 2025 Civic, as mentioned by Honda, although the specifics of these enhancements have yet to be revealed.
Under the hood, the upcoming US-spec Honda Civic Hybrid will have a similar setup as the CR-V and Accord hybrids. However, instead of the 2.0-litre inline-four mills available on the higher models, we may see a smaller 1.5-litre gas engine. As for reference, the Civic e:HEV RS on sale in Malaysia, comes equipped with a 2.0-litre non-aspirated Atkinson-cycle engine and an i-MMD dual electric motor setup, combinedly producing 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque.
“Civic hybrid will comprise about 40% of the models' sales when it launches this summer, increasing hybrid volume for the brand which already achieved record hybrid sales in 2023,” said Honda.
Alongside the new Civic, the all-new Prologue electric SUV and the CR-V Fuel Cell Vehicle are also in line to make their way to the North American market. The Prologue EV will first go on sale in California, Texas and Florida followed by a nationwide rollout at a later date. The CR-V FCEV will be the country’s first production vehicle that combines a plug-in system with FCEV technology.
"In 2023, we were finally able to meet the pent-up demand for our products with both brands rebounding and American Honda finishing the year up over 30%. We projected a strong recovery, and we achieved that. This year we will continue to capitalize on hybrid models and light trucks as we begin sales of our first high volume BEV models. Along with a continued investment in our ICE products, we are anticipating increased annual sales for both Honda and Acura in 2024," said Honda’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Mamadou Diallo.
