Honda Malaysia Issues Recall Notification – 93,929 Units Require Battery Replacement

Kuala Lumpur: High Alert for Honda car owners as brand issues recall notification. Is Honda taking the safety of its drives and passengers lightly? Well, at least, the frequent issues arising in Honda cars point towards that. This time, the Japanese manufacturer has recalled as many as 93,929 cars in Malaysia only over battery issue. As of now, no injuries, damage or accidents have been reported so far due to the fault in battery but as a precautionary measure and to ensure absolute safety, it has decided to replace the faulty batteries with the new ones.

According to a statement released by the big brand, the Honda 12V battery plotted in specific models is not up to the mark and may risk the life of the passengers. To avoid that scenario, Honda cars recall notification has been issued by Honda Malaysia so that the customers may identify if their cars need a battery replacement. Further, the company stated that a separate letter with the car details would be sent to all the Honda car owners with defective batteries for rectification at absolutely 'no cost'. In this regard, the customers can visit their nearest dealership/service centre with the letter issued by the company and get the fault fixed.

Civic piston problem

The list released by Honda Malaysia comprises of Honda Jazz (years 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015 & 2016), Honda City (years 2003 - 2014 & 2016), Honda Insight (years 2011- 2013), Honda Civic (years 2010, 2012 & 2013), Honda CR-Z (years 2012 & 2013), Honda CR-V (year 2013) and Honda Freed (years 2010 – 2012). Woof! Sounds like a long one. Earlier to this in February 2016, another recall made by Honda was for the U.S. customers only. Honda Civic 2016, produced between September 2015 and February 2016, was identified as having serious piston problem in the U.S. models and approximately 34,000 units have been recalled for change in the components. The fault fixing process may start soon by April 2016.

Honda Takata recall

The 'recall' list for Honda vehicles over the past couple of months doesn't end here. A massive Honda cars recall of 2.23 million units done earlier last month, which made the Honda loyal customers doubtful about the safety offered by the brand. Along with Honda, its luxury car division Acura also recalled various U.S. models over Takata airbag issue. The affected models have Takata PSDI-5 airbag inflator on the driver's side, which could rupture it during expansion causing serious injuries to the driver. The manufacturer is already processing the notification for recall and has promised to rectify the fault by June this year.
