Honda Malaysia is now accepting bookings for the 2022 Civic e:HEV hybrid
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia has opened its bookings for the upcoming Civic e:HEV hybrid variant. Available in sole RS specification, it is the first Honda car with a 2.0-litre e:HEV engine configuration.

The upcoming Civic hybrid looks quite similar to the ongoing petrol RS variant with the only differentiating design elements.Honda Malaysia MD and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura on the soon arrival of the Civic hybrid model said, “The 11th-generation Civic, which was launched early this year, has been very well received by Malaysians, having sold more than 6,000 units from January to September 2022. To further strengthen the Civic’s presence in the market, we are excited to introduce this new variant, and for the first time, offer it with a 2.0L e:HEV powertrain.”
He further added, “In line with the Civic DNA, this e:HEV RS promises an exhilarating drive with elegant styling. We also believe that with the introduction of this exciting variant; will further elevate the C-segment and excite our customers.”
Let us get to know the new Civic e:HEV in detail -
Engine
Powering the all-new Civic e:HEV is a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine generating maximum power of 143 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 189 Nm. It acts as a generator providing the necessary juice. The mill is a part of the car’s Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system that operates like an EV.
The electric motor handles the propulsion duties, it makes 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque. The petrol powertrain offers drive at higher speeds for better fuel economy via a lock-up clutch.
Also part of the setup is a new 72-cell battery that forms a part of the electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) and smaller & lighter Intelligent Power Unit.
Exterior elements
The upcoming Civic hybrid looks quite similar to the ongoing petrol RS variant with the only differentiating elements being - the blue accent Honda logo, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and an e:HEV emblem at the rear. In addition, the hybrid trim also showcases several chrome bits on the grille, headlight inner bezel, and window outline.
Cabin features
As expected the Civic e:HEV RS is fitted with several comforting and connectivity offering features. Part of the kit is - a 9.0-inch Advanced Display Audio infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay support, and Remote Engine Start.
Safety kit
The all-new Civic hybrid will come packed with the automaker's Sensing suite of driver assistance kit.
