Here’s the 2022 Bentley Flying Spur; gets new bits inside & out

KUALA LUMPUR: Bentley has made the ‘world’s finest four-door sedan’, the Flying Spur 2022 ready with a considerable update. It benefits from an expanded standard kit, new exterior hue, new cabin veneer choices, and added tech and comfort features. Thus, making the ever so luxurious sedan even more irresistible.

Let’s get started by discussing the 2022 Flying Spur revisions -

• It now gets a new paint shade called Cambrian Grey that brings the standard palette total to 63
• On the inside, the automaker offers open-pore wood veneer trim in three colours - Tamo Ash, Liquid Amber, and Dark Burr Walnut
• The new open-pore wood benefits from a 0.1 mm thick coat of matte lacquer and not the previously used 0.5 mm high gloss finish. Thus, helping the veneer to retain its original texture

• The previously optional ‘City Specification’ is now available as standard. It includes features like - traffic sign recognition, automatic dimming mirrors, hands-free trunk opening, top-view camera, reverse traffic warning, and welcome light
• An air ionizer is now a part of the standard kit as well, it enhances air purity by eliminating negatively charged particles from the HVAC system by creating a static charge around pollutants

Furthermore, Bentley has worked towards improving the car’s NVH levels. For the said purpose it worked alongside ESI Group to create digital mock-ups of the Flying Spur cabin. Virtual acoustic tests were also conducted to figure out the source of airborne sounds and tyre noise in the vehicle

No changes were made in the engine department, as the Flying Spur continues to source its power from either of the two available options - a 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 mill making 626 hp and 900 Nm of torque or a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 unit pumping 524 hp and 770 Nm. It is to be noted that with the smaller mill onboard the car weighs 100 kg less, thus making it nobler behind the wheel.
