Top 10 best-selling cars in Malaysia in H1 2024
#1 Perodua Bezza: With 47,100 units, Bezza is Malaysia’s best-selling car for H1 2024. First launched in 2016, the car received a facelift in 2020, and ever since it’s intact. It is offered in two engine options a 67 hp/91 Nm 1.0L three-cylinder VVT-i engine and a 94 hp/121 Nm 1.3L four-pot and is available in four trim options, 1.0LG, 1.0L G Auto, 1.3L X and AV. Its price ranges from RM 34,580 to RM 49,980.
#2 Perodua Axia: A total of 42,900 units of the Axia were sold in the first half of the year. Also, the car recently won the Malaysia Good Design Award, recognizing the most compact hatch for its design. Launched in 2023, it is based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform and is powered by a 1KR-VE 1.0 litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a Dual-Mode CVT. Its price ranges from RM 40,000 to RM 49,500.
#3 Perodua Myvi: The Myvi sold a total of 34,688 units during H1 2024. The car last received a facelift in 2022 and is available in five variant options - 1.3 G, 1.3 G with PSDA (safety features including ASA), 1.5 X, 1.5 H, and the top 1.5 AV – priced from RM45,700 to RM58,800. Also recently, the X and H trims were made available in the Cranberry Red paint option (it replaces the Lava tone).
#4 Proton Saga: Proton sold 34,035 units of the Saga, making it the 4th best-selling model in the country in the first half of the year. Also, it was only in May that the car surpassed the two million-unit mark in units sold. The car received its last facelift in 2022 with no mechanical changes. It is still powered by a 1.3 litre naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine with 95 PS and 120 Nm.
#5 Perodua Alza: 20,476 units of Alza were sold from Jan to June end 2024. This is despite the recent recall about the rectification of the upper front shock absorber nuts. The seven-seater Perodua is powered by a 2NR-VE 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine making 106 PS and 138 Nm of torque, with drive going to the front wheels through a D-CVT. The price ranges from RM 62,500 to RM 75,500.
#6 Perodua Ativa: During the first half of 2024, Perodua sold 17,741 units of the Ativa. The SUV entered the Malaysian auto landscape in 2021 and is offered in four trim options - X, H, AV, and Turbo CVT; with prices ranging from RM 61,500 to 72,000.
#7 Honda City: Finally enters the list of a non-national car, the City, with 12,815 units under its belly. Recently, it was included in the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) fleet of petrol cars. Also, only a few months back Honda Malaysia launched the City hatch facelift in the country with five variant options (S, E, V, RS, and e:HEV RS hybrid).

#8 Toyota Vios: Only a little behind the Honda City, the Vios sold 12,513 units during H1 2024. Available in its 4th generation, the Vios is offered in two variants, E priced at RM 89,600 and G priced at RM 95,500. Powering the Vios is a 2NR-VE 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine making 106 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque.
#9 Toyota Hilux: Toyota sold 11,540 units of the Hilux which makes it the second-last model in the top 10 list. Also, Hilux is the king of pick-up trucks in terms of sales in Malaysia. Here it is offered in six trim options with prices ranging from RM 103,880 to RM 169,080 (without insurance)
#10 Honda HR-V: The last model to make it to our list is the Honda HR-V with 10,803 units sold. The car is offered in four trim options (S, Turbo E, Turbo V, and RS e:HEV hybrid) ranging from RM 114,800 to RM 140,800.
