GWM Malaysia to open pre-booking for Ora Good Cat from Nov 11

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you heard it right. The GWM Ora Good Cat EV will be open for booking starting November 11. This reminds us of the recent great strike the car received in Thailand, with 500 units booked within 58 minutes of opening.

It is now for us to see how Malaysia welcomes the new GWM EV, the test drive for which got opened up recently.

Variants

The Ora Good Cat will be offered in four variant options - Tech, Pro, Ultra, and Ultra G.

Price

The exact price figures are yet to be revealed by the Chinese automaker, however, here are the estimated figures.

The above-mentioned specs make it closely similar in size to the Honda City Hatchback.

Powertrain

All four variants of the upcoming Ora Good Cat are powered by a front-mounted electric motor making a maximum power of 143 PS and a peak torque of 210 Nm. The setup allows the EV to touch the top speed mark of 152 kmph.

Battery & Range

The base Tech and mid-spec Pro variants pack a 47.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that offers a range of up to 400 km.

The Ultra and Ultra G trims, on the other hand, get a 63.1 kWh ternary lithium battery that provides up to 500 km of range.

Features

The Ora Good Cat EV packs several comforting and convenient features. Thus, making the drive super fun and relaxed for the driver and passengers. Below is a detailed description of what each variant packs.

Tech: LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED taillights, and 17-inch alloys on the outside. The cabin gets fabric seats, manually-adjustable front seats, an automatic air-conditioning system with a PM2.5 filter, keyless entry & start, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and four speakers.

Pro: Over and above the Tech variant inclusions, the Pro gets automatic LED headlamps, 18-inch alloys, power-folding side mirrors, an electric panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, synthetic leather upholstery, and powered six-way driver’s seat. It also comes with a wireless phone charger and USB ports.

Ultra & Ultra G: The additional features onboard the Ultra trim include headlamps with welcome light effect, ORVMs with memory function, driver seat memory with welcome function, and six speakers.

The only thing separating the Ultra trim from Ultra G is the unique colour theme in and out. While the exterior is available in three special tones namely Verdant Green, Hazel Wood Beige, and Wisdom Brown. The cabin is done in green/grey and brown/beige options.

Safety

The EVs standard safety kit of the EV includes two airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, passive cruise control, four parking sensors, low-speed emergency braking, hill start assist, and tyre monitoring system.

The Pro trim adds up a 360-degree camera and side & curtain airbags along with active safety & driver assist systems. The latter includes lane centre keeping, adaptive cruise control with intelligent turning, lane keeping assist, traffic jam assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with intersection support, a wisdom dodge system, and front collision warning.

The Ultra and Ultra G variants add several features to the safety specs like six parking sensors, automated parking, rear cross-traffic alert & braking, emergency lane keeping, rear collision warning, blind spot detection, and lane change assistance.
