MG 4 EV

Contrary to the sharp and aggressive-looking exterior, the interior of the MG 4 EV looks subtle and calmed down, but that doesn’t mean that it misses out on modernity. The cabin of this electric hatchback feels new-age with elements like a two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with flat edges, a compact full-TFT 7-inch display for the instrument console, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

While the Standard variant has black fabric upholstery, the Luxury and Luxury Extended Range variants get black leather upholstery with cloth inserts. The range-topping XPower variant pampers you with its black leather upholstery with Alcantara inserts. 

The lower centre console of the MG 4 EV has a floating trapezoidal panel that houses the drive mode controller and electronic parking brake switch. Other features that make the MG4 EV feel premium are automatic climate control with rear AC vents, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, tilt and telescopic adjustability for the steering wheel, push start-stop button, a 6-speaker audio system with 3D sound effects and a wireless charger. 

Featuring a sporty and youthful design, the MG4 EV looks sharp with its angular hood flowing towards the clean and minimalist fascia. At the front, this electric hatchback has triangular headlamps with Matrix LED technology and LED DRLs placed on the corners.

The front bumper here has LED fog lamps with gloss black boomerang-shaped surrounds. The MG 4EV looks athletic from the side, where it features a couple of creases and thick triangular side body mouldings. While the lower and mid-spec variants come with 17-inch aero alloy wheel options, the XPower variant has 18-inch Cyclone alloy wheels with orange callipers.

The rear profile of the MG4 EV has a very unique-looking twin arrow design for its roof spoiler, with the electric hatchback having Cygnus LED tail lamp clusters with a boomerang-shaped design and a thick LED connecting bar between them. 

The Malaysian-spec MG4 EV comes with a standard suspension setup of independent Macpherson struts with a stabilizer bar at the front and multi-link with coil springs at the rear. The XPower variant has a stiffer setup for the suspension, launch control, and larger 18-inch alloy wheels for a more dynamic ride and handling. On the other hand, the other three variants come with a slightly softer suspension tune and 17-inch aero alloy wheel options. There are multiple drive modes on offer too, including Standard, Sport, Eco, Snow, and Custom. 

All four variants of the MG4 EV have different powertrain setups. The Standard variant claims 170 PS and 250 Nm from its single-motor setup and 350 km range from its 51kWh battery. Then comes the Luxury variant, which claims 203 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. It gets 435 km range from its 64kWh battery.

The Luxury Extended Range has 245 PS and 350 Nm on tap while delivering a 520 km range from its 77kWh battery. The range-topping XPower variant is all about performance, with it producing 435 PS and 600 Nm while churning out 385 km range from its 64kWh battery. 

The 0-100 kmph acceleration timings of MG4 EV are 7.5 seconds for the Standard, 7.7 seconds for the Luxury, 6.1 seconds for the Luxury Extended Range and 3.8 seconds for the XPower variant. Also, the claimed top speeds are 160 kmph for Standard and Luxury variants, 180 kmph for the Luxury Extended Range and 200 kmph for the XPower variant. 

The MG4 EV has MG Pilot suite of Level-2 ADAS functions, such as active emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, lane keep assist with lane departure warning system, traffic jam assist, intelligent high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, driver attention alert, blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist and door open warning.

This electric hatchback also gets a range of other standard features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an electronic stability program, a hill launch assist and a reverse camera. The Standard variant skips out on the 360-degree parking camera, which is available in the other three variants. 

With a lot of youthfulness thanks to its sharp looks and modern-day features, the MG4 EV is designed for the urban audience, who will be impressed with the dynamism in its driving behaviour and performance on tap, especially in the higher-spec Luxury Extended Range and XPower variants.
