Get ready for the next-gen Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe
KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read it right. After the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV, the automaker is all set to bring the coupe version. As per reports from Autocar, the car is scheduled for a mid-March debut, thus making the month all the more exciting. Not to mention, Kia EV9 will also be making its world debut by the end of this month.

The GLC Coupe will get the same powertrain as the SUV version, which is an electrified setup. The latter is offered in mild-hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions.Coming back to Mercedes-Benz GLC, it is a pretty popular nameplate for the brand with over 2 million units sold worldwide since its introduction in 2016. Out of the total sales, 20% is attributed to the Coupe version which in its latest update will receive tech and design revisions.
“The emphasis has not changed a lot. We have once again developed the new GLC Coupe to be the more dynamic model in the line-up. The difference between it and the GLC SUV is not great, but it is subtly more sporting in terms of driving characteristics,” said Peter Kolb, the Head of Development at Mercedes-Benz in an interview with Autocar.
What do we know about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe?

Powertrain? The GLC Coupe will get the same powertrain as the SUV version, which is an electrified setup. The latter is offered in mild-hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. To elaborate, the MHEV setup includes a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo mill with a 48V hybrid system, together the two make 204 hp and 320 Nm (in GLC 200) and 258 hp and 400 Nm (in GLC 300).
The PHEV version, on the other hand, gets a 31.2 kWh battery (120 km of range) making 313 hp and 550 Nm (in GLC 300e) and 381 hp and 650 Nm (GLC 400e).

Locally, Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV is offered in two trim options, both AMG Line - GLC 300 and GLC 300. As for the Coupe version, it is available in one single PHEV 300e 4MATIC trim,
