Fifth-generation Hyundai Accent displayed at KLIMS 2018
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai Accent has been put on display at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018, organized at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). This is one of the many vehicles that Hyundai has showcased at the largest automotive industry show in the country. However, the official availability of the car is not known yet.
The Accent model showcased at the ongoing motor show derives its power from a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder Kappa MPI petrol powertrain coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. This motor generates a maximum power of 100 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 132 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
From the dimensional viewpoint, the Hyundai Accent measures 4,385 mm in length, 1,729 mm in breadth, and 1,450 mm in height. The car features a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. By looking at the images snapped during the event, it visually seems to be a smaller version of the sixth-generation (AD) Elantra and rides on 16-inch wheels. The grille design, styling of the headlights, and taillights have been engineered to make it appear a bit like the big-sized C-segment model. It also bears halogen projector headlights accompanied by LED DRLs.
On the inside of the Accent, passengers will be greeted with cosy fabric/leather upholstery and single-zone climate control system. To make this subcompact sedan tech-savvy, the interior houses a 3.5-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster, rear view camera, five-inch head unit, keyless entry and start, etc.
To tighten the safety of the occupants, the new Accent is packed with ABS, EBD, brake assist, hill start assist control, cruise control, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and front and rear parking sensors.
The Hyundai Accent first made its world premiere in February 2017 at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. In case it is sold in Malaysia, the vehicle is expected to give a good competition to the likes of the Honda City, Toyota Vios and others in the B-segment sedan space.
