Check out the Honda City hatch, to go on sale in many ASEAN markets
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda has finally revealed the hatch version of the iconic City sedan. The car will first go on sale in Thailand followed by other ASEAN and emerging markets. Time to get into the details -
Honda City hatch platform
The City hatch sits on the same platform as the latest-gen model of its sedan sibling. Almost all its body parts are borrowed from the City sedan up until the C-pillar, beyond which it adopts the traditional hatch design.
Honda City hatch design
As mentioned earlier, the front and side profile are completely identical to the City sedan. The rear gets a more rounded appearance backed by wide horizontal tail lights and shorter overhangs. The rear bumper looks stylish thanks to the faux air vents with a black faux diffuser.
Honda City hatch dimensions
Compared to the City sedan, the hatchback is 200 mm shorter (Thai-spec model), but just as tall and wide. However, on the wheelbase front, it is 11 mm shorter. If placed against the 3rd-gen Jazz, the City hatch is 314 mm longer and 53 mm wider, with a 59 mm stretched wheelbase.

One major highlight of the hatch offering is the inclusion of a Magic seat. These units are ultra-flexible and allow for several-seating layout making space to fit more luggage or passengers.

The hatchback at the time of launch will be available with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and parking sensors with a rear camera.
Honda City hatch's arrival in Malaysia
We can't say for sure, but there are rumours suggesting that the City hatch will arrive in the local market as a replacement of the 4th-gen Jazz.
