Check out the first look of Hyundai Elantra N Line performance sedan
KUALA LUMPUR: At the time of unveiling the new Elantra sedan back in March, Hyundai disclosed the plan to roll out its sporty N Line version. After that, the automaker released the camouflaged images of the pre-production prototype at the end of April. And now we have the first official undisguised images of the hot Elantra N-Line in front of us. However, Hyundai is short on specification at the moment.
Design-wise, the Elantra N-Line distinguishes a lot from lesser trim levels. The sportier design has a large cascading grille exclusive to the N Line variant flanked by aggressive air intakes, inspired from motorsport. Elantra N Line has a meaner stance with lower ride height. There are dual-exhaust outlets and a faux diffuser at the rear end, whereas the 18-inch alloys with low profile tyres fill the wheel arches on the sides to complement the sedan's look.
Hyundai is yet to reveal the mechanical bits, but reports suggest that the N Line could borrow the turbocharged 1.6-litre gasoline engine from the Elantra GT N Line. In the hatchback version, the drivetrain is good for producing 200 PS of power and 264 Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission might be the only transmission choice, but a stick shifter could also be on the cards for the purists.
As far as the interior is concerned, the automaker has not yet pulled its wraps, though its basic layout is likely to be similar to the standard model. It is expected to be surrounded by plenty of red design accents to differentiate it from the regular Elantra. Moreover, we assume that N-Line would have sports seats to do justice with the tag.
Hyundai will be revealing the sporty Elantra N Line in the coming weeks or months as it is expected to hit the U.S. showrooms by the end of the year. However, the arrival of new Elantra and Elantra N-Line on Malaysian shores is still not confirmed.
