BYD Seal EV price announced in Indonesia ahead of local launch
KUALA LUMPUR: Last month, the world's leading EV seller BYD introduced three electric cars - Dolphin, Atto 3, and Seal in Indonesia. These three EVs are currently on display at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024, where the automaker also unveiled their pricing details. We're particularly interested in the pricing for the Seal as it's slated to hit the Malaysian market shortly.

The BYD Seal will launch in Malaysia on February 23, 2024. It will be offered in three variants here - Dynamic, Premium, and Performance.
Powering the base-spec Dynamic variant is a single rear-wheel drive electric motor that kicks out a maximum power of 204 PS and a peak torque of 310 Nm. The motor is fed by a 61.4 kWh LFP Blade battery pack offering a range of up to 460 km. On the contrary, the Premium trim gets energy from a more potent motor tuned to deliver 313 PS/360 Nm. It also comes mated to a bigger 82.5 kWh LFP battery which lets the EV cruise up to 570 km.
The top-spec Seal Performance guise is powered by an all-wheel-drive dual-motor setup generating 530 PS and 670 Nm. The battery setup remains the same as the Premium variant offering a range of up to 520 km on a single charge.
The EV is based on BYD e-platform 3.0 and measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. The rear trunk has a capacity of 400 litres while the front compartment can hold up to 53 litres.
The highlights of the ocean-inspired design of the electric car include - an X-shaped front layout, a sleek silhouette, a low-profile hood, and an upturned ducktail. The interior is kitted with a "Surging Wave" dash, a crystal gear shift lever, and water drop-shaped inner fastenings.
In terms of features, the Malaysia-spec EV is expected to come with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment system, a head-up display, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, and several advanced driver-assistance systems.
