BMW M340i xDrive Edition 50 Jahre launched in Malaysia – Only 50 units available

KUALA LUMPUR:  BMW Malaysia has rolled out a limited-run version of the M340i xDrive to mark a major milestone—the 50th anniversary of the iconic 3 Series.

Aptly named the BMW M340i xDrive Edition 50 Jahre, this exclusive model is capped at just 50 units for Malaysia, making it one for the collectors.

Priced from RM396,800, the BMW M340i xDRIVE Edition 50 Jahre could end up as much as RM423,200 with BMW's Service and Repair inclusive package. 

Jahre” means “years” in German—so “50 Jahre” marks 50 years of the BMW 3 Series legacy.

At a glance, the BMW M340i xDrive Edition 50 Jahre doesn’t stray too far from the standard M340i—but it’s the thoughtful details that make this limited-run model stand out.

You’ll notice the differences on the outside first. The Edition 50 Jahre wears M Performance side skirts and a sporty M rear spoiler, giving it a more assertive edge compared to the regular car.

Subtle “50 Jahre Edition” badges are tucked into the cupholder and B-pillar, quietly marking this as something out of the ordinary.

Inside, it gets dressed up with Sensatec upholstery, galvanic-finish switchgear, and a luxury instrument panel—all of which are also available on the regular M340i, but the Alcantara-wrapped centre armrest and carbon fibre gearshift paddles are unique to this Edition.

It also shares the curved dual-display setup with the standard car: a 12.3-inch digital cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen running BMW Operating System 8.5.

Performance & Powertrain

No changes under the bonnet, and honestly, none needed. The same 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six (B58) makes 387 hp and 500 Nm, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.

As with the regular model, power is sent to all four wheels via xDrive AWD, and it uses the same 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and Adaptive M Suspension.

Both the Edition and the standard M340i get the Driving Assistant package (Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Parking Assistant Plus), and both benefit from the 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

So in terms of equipment, the two are neck and neck—again, it's the styling and exclusivity that set the Edition apart.

Colours & Trims

The Edition comes in four curated colours: Alpine White, Arctic Race Blue, M Brooklyn Grey, and Black Sapphire.

Inside, the Sensatec upholstery is available in Black or Tacora Red—a pairing that works well with the more aggressive M Performance trim pieces.

To mark the golden jubilee of the 3 Series, BMW Malaysia is inviting fans to The Yard @ Sentul Depot from April 18 to 20, 2025, between 10AM and 6PM.

The event will showcase all seven generations of the iconic sports sedan—from the original E21 to the latest G20—offering a rare walk through 3 Series history.

Visitors can also look forward to exclusive activities and even get behind the wheel of the BMW 330i M Sport during a series of driving sessions (limited slots available).

It’s a celebration of five decades of engineering, innovation, and that unmistakable BMW driving feel.
