BMW iX pre-bookings now open in Malaysia, prices revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: After much teasing, BMW Malaysia has finally opened the pre-bookings of the highly-awaited iX electric SUV. Just like the Thai market, we also received one trim i.e. xDrive40 for now, the xDrive50 is still away. Well, the automaker is offering the xDrive40 in two versions viz. xDrive40 standard and xDrive40 Sport, along with a power package. Have a look at the detailed price list.

The mentioned Power Package includes a BMW I Wallbox that will be installed at the buyer’s home, but for that, a three-phase electricity supply is a must. The BMW i Public Charging Cable is also a part of this pack. As for warranty, the automaker offers a complimentary two-year warranty and an optional extended warranty of five years (unlimited mileage) with a service package for six years (120,000 km). 

Further, the buyers of the electric SUV can also enjoy the battery warranty of up to 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes earlier. 

Moving to the BMW iX specs, both trims are powered by a dual-motor setup generating a maximum power output of 326 PS and a peak torque of 630 Nm. The setup is paired with a 76.6 kWh battery pack that gives away an electric drive range of 425 km in the WLTP cycle. BMW claims that the EV can go 90 km with 10 minutes of fast charging.

On the performance front, it runs from naught to 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds before attaining a top speed of 200 kmph. 

In terms of design, the generously proportioned surfaces and characteristic lines lend a unique monolithic shape to the car. The standard exterior kit includes LED headlights and tail lights, and 21-inch wheels. Inside, the significant inclusions are BMW Curved Display (a combination of a 14.9-inch infotainment system with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster), premium sound system, haptic controls, Qi wireless charging, and more. 

On the contrary, the customers opting for the xDrive40 Sport will get bigger 22-inch wheels, Sport line trimmings, full-length panoramic sunroof with electrochromatically shades, Laserlight. crystal and wood interior trims, Harman Kardon sound system, and so on.

Interested in buying one? You can now book the SUV on the BMW Shop Online platform by paying a booking fee of RM 5,000. On the first 50 pre-bookings made before September 22, a Complimentary Charging Installation and a Complimentary 1-year Public Charging Access will also be available.
