KEY TAKEAWAYS
How powerful is the Bentley Bentayga Speed?
The Bentley Bentayga Speed produces 635 PS and 900 Nm, and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 secondsHow many units of the Bentayga Space Edition will Bentley produce?
The Bentley Bentayga Speed Space Edition is a one-off project for a customer. Only one will be made.Made for one of the brand’s high-end customers who wishes to remain anonymous, the Bentley Bentayga Speed Space Edition features a number of options available in the brand’s personal commissioning guide as well as a few choices from the brand’s list of bespoke elements.
On the exterior, the colour we’re looking at here is a shade of Cypress which is similar to what was found on the first generation Bentley Continental GT which was unveiled back in 2003. Complementing the Cypress paint are the dark metallic grey bits with green undertones which create an almost rock-like shade.
The customer also opted for Bentley’s Blackline Specification, which means that all chrome and silver bits on a stock Bentayga has been replaced with black ones.
The coolest part about the Bentayga Speed Space edition has to be the orange flame accents on the carbon fibre parts which were said to be inspired by the comet dust trails seen in the sky, beautifully complementing the overall theme of the exterior.
Similar to the exterior, the Bentley Bentayga Speed Space Edition’s interior is just as cool, featuring illuminated treadplates depicting the solar system, planets, and everything in between.
Taking centre stage are the orange bezels that surround the “Galaxy Stone” fascias on the dashboard which are also mirrored on the door trims.
Since it is all about the space here, the cabin of the Bentayga Speed Space Edition features a dark upholstery that reminds us of the night sky, while the speaker grilles are clad in satin cloth.
Large bursting orange graphics complete the interior, giving the dark upholstery a beautiful contrastic effect.
As funky as it is visually, there are no special mechanical upgrades on this one-off Bentayga. Power comes courtesy of the regular Bentayga Speed’s 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbo engine which kicks out 635 PS and 900 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm.
Thanks to the powertrain, the Bentayga Speed is capable of achieving a top speed of 306 km/h, and does the century sprint in 3.9 seconds.
Complementing the powertrain are four driving modes, a world’s first electric active roll control system, Bentley’s torque vectoring system, and the world’s largest carbon ceramic brakes in the world which are 20kg lighter than the stock brakes, but capable of stopping up to 6000Nm of torque at temperatures of up to 1,000 kg.
