Bentley Malaysia launches new Flying Spur V8
KUALA LUMPUR: Considering ourselves lucky, Bentley Malaysia has launched the all-new Flying Spur V8 locally, shortly after its global debut. As in most cases, it takes a year’s or more time.
The 2021 Bentley Flying Spur V8 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that makes a maximum power of 550 PS and a peak torque of 770 Nm at 2,000 rpm. On the performance front, the super luxurious sedan completes the century sprint in 4.1 seconds and attains a top speed of 318 kmph. The power is sent to all-four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
It is 100 kg lighter than the W12 trim that covers the 0 to 100 kmph run in 3.8 seconds and tops out at 333 kmph.
The power plant comes with cylinder deactivation that shuts off four cylinders under less load, like when the torque demand is below 235 Nm and the mill speed is under 3,000 rpm. According to the automaker, the driver and the passengers won’t be informed about the deactivation, as the process will take just 20 milliseconds. It will however result in a 16% better fuel economy.
2021 Bentley Flying Spur V8 standard features include 20-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, quad exhaust exits, V8 wing badge, electric steering, torque vectoring by brake, drive dynamic control, and air suspension. The latter uses three-chamber air springs with 60% more air volume compared to the older model. In need of a more engaging setup, Bentley is providing options for Electronic All-Wheel Steering and Bentley Dynamic Ride.
Speaking of options, the Flying Spur V8 comes with a plethora of customization options . For instance, while the basic colour choices include seven hues, there are over 60 tones in the extended range.
The cabin as expected is super plush and premium. The standard Crown Cut Walnut upholstery looks amazing, however, there are seven veneer options to choose from along with a High Gloss Carbon Fibre technical finish. Connectivity and comfort features include cool Bentley Rotating Display - rotating between a 12.3-inch display and a panel with three analogue dials (chronometer, outside temperature, and compass), and a plain ‘digital detox’ wood veneer layout.
Furthermore, the Touch Screen Remote at the rear allows the passenger to control several functions from window blinds to massage function or calling out the Flying B.
Amazing, huh? Do let us know your thoughts on the 2021 Bentley Flying Spur V8.
