Bentley Flying Spur comes with a luxury 4-seat configuration
KUALA LUMPUR: As Bentley bid adieu to the Mulsanne sedan, the Flying Spur graciously took the honour of the marque’s flagship model. To uphold the new title, Bentley has updated the luxury saloon with various configuration options and a new four-seat layout that boasts plenty of creature comforts.
The 4-seater Flying Spur has a centre console that goes all the way from the front to the rear, separating the rear seats, and serving as an armrest for the two rear passengers. It also houses a 5-inch touchscreen remote, two cup holders, two USB ports with a 12v power socket, wireless charging, and extra storage area.
A pair of electronically operated picnic tables is also mounted at the rear of the front seats, which can be deployed with a single press of a button.
The new four-seat cabin of Flying Spur features semi-aniline leather and hand-cross stitching that showcase the attention to detail and skill of the craftspersons. The stitching process involves 11,100 hand-sewn stitches through the cabin and takes 18 hours when done by an individual. Its unique thread is exceptionally durable and uses special dyes that maintain its colour for its lifespan.
The semi-aniline leather is not only softer and plusher; but, it is more breathable due to the reduced thickness; beneficial for hotter climates especially.
The automaker also brings up a new steering wheel as standard, with a revised shape and profile. The new wheel has capacitive sensing throughout the rim, which allows it to be detected when it is being held. It is considered as a vital new safety measure for the car’s semi-autonomous Driver Assistance Systems, where new legislation requires that drivers must have their hands on the steering wheel at all times when the car is moving.
Though updates focus on the interior, several new options are available for the exterior as well. These include new exterior shades - Viridian, Patina, and Snow Quartz, that expand the range of the existing colour palette to 62. The customers can also choose from the satin and pearlescent options of Bentley Mulliner, and can also request for a full bespoke matching shade.
The new Flying Spur also has a bright chrome finish for the main radiator grille, and two new wheels finished in gloss black.
Indeed, the new options extended the luxury of Flying Spur even further. The arrival of a 4-seater Flying Spur in Malaysia is not known at the moment.
