KUALA LUMPUR: It took Bentley 18 years to build the 80,000th example of the Continental GT. The first model arrived in 2003 and now after three-generations, the milestone example of the vehicle is out in the open.

Bentley plans to go all-electric by 2030

Manufactured at the Bentley’s Crewe factory, this landmark vehicle is a right-hand drive model finished in Orange Flame hue, featuring the optional Blackline & Styling specifications.

The inspiration behind this iconic model was the 1952 R-Type Continental. And per Bentley, the Continental GT has established the brand well in the modern luxury Grand Tourer segment. Since the arrival of the original model, Bentley has claimed to sell nearly 5,000 units around the globe annually.

On achieving the milestone, Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Adrian Hallmark said, “I had the pleasure of launching the original GT in 2003 in my first stint at Bentley, and being here for the launch of the latest generation – and the iterations that have followed – has been a source of great pride for me personally.” He further added that the Continental GT “ will continue to be the iconic backbone of the Bentley business for years to come, even as we transition to the world’s leading provider of sustainable luxury mobility.”

The ongoing Continental GT is the first in its generation to benefit from the company designed platform that calls for new dynamic capabilities, stance, and proportions. It is offered in two engine options - a 4.0-litre V8 mill pumping 542 hp and a 6.0-litre W12 unit making 626 hp. The power is sent to all the four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The Continental GT is available in the most extensive exterior finish along with a plethora of interior options, thus creating a unique version of the vehicle. In all there are a total of 17 billion ways a customer can fashion the new Continental GT. Also, customers can go for Mulliner, the company’s in-house bespoke division for more options.
