Bentley Bentayga EWB debuts with an exceptionally luxurious cabin
KUALA LUMPUR: Ever since its launch, the ultra-luxury Bentayga has been driving Bentley's sales with an all-time record of delivering 14,659 cars last year. With the intent of taking this figure to the next level, the luxury marque has recently introduced the SUV’s stretched version, dubbed as Bentayga EWB (Extended Wheelbase). The first and foremost difference is obviously the longer wheelbase, which now measures 3,175 mm (increased by 180 mm). It resulted in an overall length of 5,322 mm.
Revised exterior styling
Bentley has not just increased the SUV’s dimensions but also tweaked the exterior styling to give it a unique look. These include -
- A new“Vertical Vane” front grille reminiscent of the Flying Spur
- A repositioned panoramic sunroof
- New 22-inch 10-spoke polished alloy wheels
More opulent interior
The interior of the all-new Bentley Bentayga EWB also hosts a number of changes mentioned below-
- There is extra rear cabin space due to the extended wheelbase.
- The SUV comes in three seating layouts - four, five, and a new 4+1 featuring a jump seat between the two rear seats. Yes, there is no 7-seater layout, surprisingly.
- New Airline Seat giving the new Bentayga EWB a flagship-like opulence. This seat can be adjusted in as many as 22 different ways.
- There is also a new climate control system called Seat Auto Climate. It detects temperature and humidity at the rear and automatically changes the settings to the optimum setup.
- A vast array of trim and upholstery options; buyers can choose from 24 billion different trim combinations, says Bentley
- Also, parts of the kit are perforated doors, diamond quilting, and cool ambient lighting on the door panels.
Same engine setup with a rear-wheel steering
Under the hood, the Bentayga EWB comes equipped with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, generating a maximum power output of 550 PS and a peak torque of 770 Nm. The motor is coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Aiding the cornering prowess of the extended-wheelbase model is rear-wheel steering. Its turning circle at 11.8 metres is tighter than the standard Bentayga.
In terms of performance, the SUV runs from zero to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 290 kmph.
The deliveries of the new Bentley Bentayga EWB will begin in the fourth quarter of the year in certain markets.
