All-new fifth-gen Land Rover Range Rover revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: The wait for the next-gen Range Rover is now over. Land Rover has finally pulled the wraps off the all-new version of the luxury SUV. With smoother lines, the premium machine looks more modern and has loaded with all the latest tech, although it sports a familiar appearance. 

Based on Land Rover's flexible MLA-Flex platform, the fifth-gen Range Rover comes in short- and long-wheelbase layouts and three seating configurations - 4-, 5-, and 7-seater. With the SV Signature Suite option (available with the long-wheelbase), the buyers can opt for four seats. It features ultra-luxury comfort with lounge-like rear seats with massage function, 24-way adjustability, separate climate control zones, two 11.4-inch entertainment screens, and an electronically operable table.

The new Range Rover is also equipped with an advanced digital driver’s display and a 13.1-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system which is the brand’s largest unit ever. Included in the SUV’s incredible range of features are -

Land Rover offers the 2022 Range Rover in two engine options for now - 3.0-liter turbo inline-six with mild-hybrid tech which delivers a maximum power output of 395 hp and a peak torque of 550 Nm Another one is the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 mill generating 523 hp and 750 Nm of torque. With the latter engine on board, the SUV can hit the century sprint in just 4.4 seconds.

In 2023, the automaker will be launching a new extended-range plug-in hybrid Range Rover with a combination of inline-six Ingenium engine, a 141 hp electric motor, and a 38.2-kWh lithium-ion battery. The combined system of this setup is rated at 434 hp with an all-electric range of 100 kilometers.

Other significant upgrades of the next-gen Range Rover include an adaptive air suspension with a new five-link rear axle, all-wheel steering, and electronically controlled active anti-roll bars.

The new Land Rover Range Rover price in the UK starts at GBP 94,400 (RM 538,210) and goes all the way up to GBP 137,800 (RM 785,651).
