KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota has launched the all-new 5th-gen Toyota Prius at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024. This legendary electrified model marks its return to the country, continuing its legacy.

The Prius marks Toyota's 10th electrified model in Indonesia. According to Toyota Indonesia's official website, the Prius HEV is priced at IDR 698 million(RM206k) OTR Jakarta, while the price for the Prius PHEV is yet to be announced.
The latest generation features a sleek front fascia with slim headlight designs and a grille integrated into the bumper. The iconic Prius silhouette at the C-pillar is maintained, with updates to the rear lights.
The distinctive liftback profile is enhanced with sporty 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The new platform boasts a lower center of gravity on the second-generation TNGA platform. As an electrified vehicle, the Prius' exterior design is aerodynamically optimized with a drag coefficient of 0.27.
For the HEV version, Toyota has equipped it with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine, producing 138 hp and 142 Nm of torque. The hybrid system includes an electric motor generating 93 hp and 185 Nm of torque, powered by an 8.8 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The second variant, the PHEV, features a larger 13.6 kWh battery that can be recharged from an external source. This system allows the Prius to run purely on electric power for up to 69 km. It also uses a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine, with a combined output of 220 hp. When fully utilized, the maximum range is claimed to be 965 km.

Other electrified models making their debut at GIIAS 2024 include the Kijang Innova Zenix HEV Flexy Fuel Concept, designed to run on Bioethanol (B10), and the futuristic FT-3e electric crossover concept.
Toyota is also showcasing several flagship models at GIIAS 2024, including the New GR Yaris, Hilux Rangga, and various other models across different segments. In total, 27 display units are featured at the Toyota booth.
