As reported by CarNewsChina, BYD will introduce the new Seal facelift on August 8, 2024. Ahead of the reveal, the automaker has provided a few glimpses of the cabin and features of the upgraded electric sedan.
In terms of exterior, the new BYD Seal looks almost identical to the outgoing model with a couple of revisions including new rims and a red BYD logo replacing the “Build Your Dreams” inscription on the trunk. The 2025 Seal also benefits from a new Sky Purple colour.
Other than that, the exterior retains the same modern and aerodynamic aesthetic with a sleek profile, slim headlamps, and a sloping hood. The dimensions remain unchanged, standing at 4,800 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,460 mm tall, with a wheelbase measuring 2,920 mm.
However, one of the most notable upgrades the 2025 BYD Seal will be getting is a roof-mounted LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor. This state-of-the-art technology, supplied by Robosense, will significantly enhance the EV's driver assistance features. By scanning the environment in real-time, the LiDAR system will provide detailed data on obstacles, road conditions, and other vehicles for better collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control.
Unlike the exterior, the cabin of the BYD Seal gets a serious overhaul. It benefits from a new Coral Orange colour scheme with the redesigned dashboard featuring a wave-like graphic and hidden air vents. The new seats boast a wave pattern design adding to the interior’s modern aesthetic.
The EV also features a new D-shaped steering wheel and a floating central control screen. Also part of the upgrade are new wireless charging panels, upgraded cup holders, and new physical buttons, enhancing user convenience and ergonomics. The digital instrument cluster has been revised for better readability.
In terms of drivetrain setup, the Chinese-spec Seal is likely to be offered with the same configurations as earlier. The base-spec trim is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor generating a maximum power of 228 PS, while the higher-spec model offers 308 PS. The top-spec Seal, on the contrary, comes with a dual motor AWD setup tuned to deliver 523 PS.
In China, the EV comes in two battery options - 61.44 kWh and 80.64 kWh, offering a driving range of 510 km and 650 km respectively.
BYD Seal in Malaysia
The BYD Seal made its Malaysian debut in February this year. The EV is offered in two variants - RWD Premium and Performance AWD, priced at RM 179,800 and RM 199,800, respectively. Notably, BYD Malaysia received over 1,300 bookings for the EV within just four days of its launch.
