2025 BYD Seal debuts in China, check out what’s new
KUALA LUMPUR: After introducing the new Atto 3 and Dolphin, BYD has come up with a facelift version of its electric fastback sedan, the Seal, in China. The upgraded EV packs many advanced technological features, making it a standout in the electric vehicle market.

The 2025 BYD Seal facelift is based on a new e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture and comes with advanced SiC technology, an 800V high-voltage platform, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.The 2025 BYD Seal underpins a new e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, which can also be found under the brand’s new plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Sealion 07. It comes equipped with the cutting-edge 1,200V SiC (Silicon Carbide) control system and a high-performance 23,000 rpm electric motor propelling the EV from zero to 100 kmph acceleration in 3.8 seconds and hitting a top speed of 240 kmph.
The BYD EV also utilises CTB (Cell-to-Body) battery integration technology mated to an 800V high-voltage platform, which enables a faster 10%-80% SoC in just 25 minutes.
The battery options available for the new China-spec BYD Seal are - 61.44 kWh and 80.64 kWh, offering a range of 510 km to 650 km (on the CLTC cycle). For reference, the pre-facelift model on sale in Malaysia comes with an 82.5 kWh battery pack, which provides a WLTP-claimed range of 570 km.
Speaking of the power output, the base-spec and mid-spec models equipped with a rear-mounted motor deliver a maximum power of 228 hp and 308 hp, respectively. The top-spec dual-motor AWD variant is tuned to generate 523 hp. Here in Malaysia, we have the latter two versions on sale.
BYD has also upgraded the vehicle chassis which now incorporates the brand’s Disus-Csystem, enhancing the overall adaptability, handling, stability, and comfort.
Another key highlight of the 2025 BYD Seal is the new roof-mounted LiDAR sensor which improves the functionality of advanced driver-assistance systems. It comes integrated with the L2+ DiPilot 300 system and offers high-speed and urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA), along with Automated Valet Parking (AVP) capabilities.
While retaining the same dimensions, the 2025 BYD Seal comes with subtle exterior design upgrades. It benefits from new rims, a new BYD logo on the trunk, and a new Sky Purple colour.
The cabin, however, received some serious modifications. It features a new Coral Orange colour scheme with a new flat-bottom steering wheel, a large central floating control unit, hidden air-conditioning vents, and wireless charging pads. With all variants, now comes a W-HUD head-up display and 13 airbags as standard.
The 2025 BYD Seal price in China begins at CNY 175,800 (approx. RM 108,976) and goes up to CNY 239,800 (approx. RM 148,649). In Malaysia, you can grab the pre-facelift model at a price ranging from RM 179,800 to RM 199,800.
