2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro launches in Malaysia: RM123,800, 1.6L TGDi, 7-speed DCT, 197hp/290Nm

KUALA LUMPUR:  After a long wait, Chery Auto Malaysia has finally launched the highly anticipated Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, an SUV packed with features and specifications that make it a strong contender in the C-segment SUV category.

Competing against the likes of the Proton X70, Mazda CX-5, and Honda CR-V, the Tiggo 7 Pro is priced at RM123,800 and is only available in a single variant. Chery enthusiasts can now place their orders, with the SUV proudly displayed in Chery showrooms across the country.

There's also an early bird offer where the first 2,000 customers can purchase the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro for RM119,800.

For those still catching up on its specs, here's a quick rundown. Built on the robust T1X Comfort chassis shared with the Tiggo 8 Pro, the Tiggo 7 Pro does offer a good amount of interior space and a large boot capacity (475 litres), ideal for those who value comfort and utility.

Measuring 4,513 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, and 1,696 mm in height, the Tiggo 7 Pro is slightly shorter but wider than the Proton X70. Despite these similar dimensions, the Chery SUV gives the impression of being a more compact vehicle compared to the Proton X70.

Although the exterior design of the Tiggo 7 Pro is a bit more unadventurous when compared to its smaller brother the Omoda 5,  the exterior design does feature an imposing chrome-framed hexagonal front grille and sleek LED lighting, giving it an aggressive, off-road-ready look.

Under the hood, it boasts a powerful 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo TGDi engine with 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque, ensuring exhilarating performance. This engine, also found in the JAECOO J7, is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, delivering impressive acceleration and a thrilling driving experience.

The Tiggo 7 Pro features independent multi-link suspension at all four corners for enhanced driving feel and comfort. Inside, the cabin is a luxurious tech haven with a 24.6" dual-screen setup for the instrument panel and infotainment system, seamless smartphone connectivity(Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard), and a premium 8 speaker Sony audio system. Comfort features include ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof, adding to the cabin's premium feel.

Staying connected on the go is effortless with the in-car 50W wireless charger, which includes an active cooling system to keep your phone's temperature in check during charging. The Tiggo 7 Pro also features multi-colored ambient lighting, keyless entry with walk-away auto lock, push-button start, and power-adjustable seats—six-way for the driver and four-way for the passenger, albeit in faux leather. 

Safety is a top priority for the Tiggo 7 Pro, which secured a 5-star ANCAP rating. It comes equipped with seven airbags and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) featuring 16 functions to ensure maximum safety on the road.
