2023 Honda City facelift arrives in India with design and tech updates
KUALA LUMPUR: The fifth-gen Honda City has received a mid-life upgrade in the Indian market. In the latest form, the Japanese sedan boasts mild design changes, new tech features, and updated gasoline powertrains that fulfil the stringent emissions norms. Prices for the 2023 Honda City facelift in India start at Rs 11.49 lakh (RM 62,524) and go all the way up to Rs 20.39 lakh (RM 110,944).The new Honda City benefits from a slightly revised grille incorporating a slimmer chrome bar, new 16-inch alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers, and a rear spoiler. A new Obsidian Blue hue is also added to the colour palette.
Inside the cabin also, things mostly remain identical to the pre-facelift version. However, offering the cabin a fresh lease of life is revised seat upholstery and colours. It also gains a couple of new tech features, including wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, and rain-sensing wipers.
The sedan continues to feature a 7-inch full colour TFT instrument panel, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, eight speakers, automatic air-conditioning, keyless entry and engine start, and an electric sunroof.
The Honda Sensing suite which was earlier limited to the hybrid trims only has now made its way to the petrol variants as well. The advanced driver assistance pack comprises systems like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control (with a low-speed follow function), Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keep Assist System, Lead Car Departure Notification System, and Auto High Beam.
Honda Cars India dropped the diesel-powered City from the lineup and now offers the sedan in petrol and hybrid variants only, which are updated to meet more stringent RDE emission norms. These include
- 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill delivering a maximum power of 121 hp and a peak torque of 145 Nm, which comes paired to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox
- 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle hybrid powertrain that kicks out 126 hp and 253 Nm, transmitting to the wheels via an eCVT transmission
