2022 Proton Saga Standard Lite AT launched in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s best-selling A-segment sedan, the Proton Saga, received an upgrade back in May this year. Although changes were minor yet significant keeping it competitive against its chief rival, the Perodua Bezza. Well, the sedan is once again making headlines in the local automotive arena, this time it welcomes a new variant.

The Saga Standard Lite AT misses out on a few safety systems like hill hold assist, ESC, and traction control. The rest of the equipment is completely identical.That’s right, the automaker has expanded the Saga lineup by adding one new trim, which goes with the name ‘Standard Lite AT.’ It is slotted between the base-spec Standard MT and Standard AT and priced at RM 500 less than the latter. Each purchase comes with a five-year/150,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and three times complimentary labour service.
While the Standard Lite is a bit cheaper than the Standard, Proton undercuts a few features to save the cost. It dropped the hill hold assist, electronic stability control, and traction control from the car’s safety kit. However, the rest of the equipment is completely identical to the regular Standard trim, including -

The mechanical setup is also unchanged with the 1.3-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine generating a maximum power output of 95 PS at 5750 rpm and a peak torque of 120 Nm at 4000 rpm. As for the transmission, the mill is paired with the familiar 4-speed automatic gearbox.
