  • Pricing for the new C200 Avantgarde starts at RM 288,334, while the new C300 AMG Line retails for RM 330,681. The prices are on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of a 50% sales and service tax rebate valid until June 30, 2022. It also covers a 2+2 year unlimited-mileage manufacturer’s warranty.

In terms of design, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class sports an entirely new appearance that coordinates with the new E-Class and S-Class. Both variants look different because of different styling packages.

The base C 200 is decked up with Avantgarde exterior package and features LED High-Performance headlights with adaptive high-beam assist, LED tail lights, and 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. On the contrary, the top-spec C 300 comes with a sporty AMG Line pack, a different front grille, 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, and a panoramic sliding sunroof.

Unlike the exterior, the two variants are almost identical on the interior. Standard features list include a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a new 11.9-inch vertical infotainment unit mated with the latest MBUX operating system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and fingerprint scanner.

Also, part of the kit is a wireless charging pad, augmented-reality navigation, powered comfort front seats with memory function, automatic climate control system, keyless entry and start, electric rear sunblind, and 64-colour ambient lighting. The seats are wrapped in Artico man-made leather upholstery. On top of these, the range-topping trim is equipped with some extra sporty bits like sports seats, sportier steering wheel, Sports seats, and exclusive floor mats.

On the mechanical front, the entry-level C 200 is powered by a mild-hybrid unit combining

a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine and a 48V integrated starter generator. The setup churns out a maximum power output of 204 PS and a peak torque of 300 Nm.

The C-Class C 300 AMG Line, on the other hand, is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo mill and 48V motor. Here, the total system output comes down to 258 PS and 400 Nm.

Both mild-hybrid mills are mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox sending power to rear wheels.

In terms of performance, the C 200 runs from zero to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds before achieving a top speed of 246 kmph. However, the top-spec hits the century sprint in 6 seconds on its way to get 250 kmph top speed.

As for safety, Mercedes has packed the new C-Class with advanced driver assistance systems like Active Lane Keeping and Lane Tracking Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system and Active Parking Assist with Parktronic. With the C 200, customers get reversing camera while a 360-degree surround-view camera comes with the C 300 safety kit.
