2022 Honda Civic prototype revealed, borrows clues from Accord sedan
KUALA LUMPUR: The 11th-gen Civic will soon be launched and will then go on sale by late spring of 2021. However, before that, let's have a look at the first official images of the 2022 Civic prototype, revealed by Twitch recently.

The prototype we see in the images is that of a Civic sedan and later the production model will be joined by a hatch as well. In addition to the standard variants, the upcoming Civic lineup will include two new trims - performance-focused Civic Si and high-performance Civic Type R.
Let's now analyse the 2022 Civic prototype images and look for the clues of the final design that is expected to be revealed in coming months. Starting with the exterior design - compared to the ongoing model, the upcoming Civic looks more elegant with elements borrowed from the Accord. At the front, is present a slim black grille with a bar and a row of louvres, the brand logo occupies the centre space. Joining it is a set of sleek headlamps joined by signature L-shaped DRLs. Further, the C-shaped structures on the bumper add to the car's subtle look.
On the side, we see several design elements that remind us of the ongoing Accord. For example, the window line with an arc near the C-pillar and fuel door and sloping roofline.
Same is the case with the prototype's rear end that gets a subtle ducktail. Speaking of unique elements, the Civic prototype gets angular tail lamps with signature L-shaped DRLs. Also, part of the setup is a simple bumper setup with horizontal reflectors and oval exhausts with black surrounds.
Coming to the interior, Honda has only revealed its patent images and now we have a more defined sketch that looks neat. Clearly visible in the image slim air-con vents that extend into the door handles and feature honey-comb mesh trim. The 9-inch touchscreen unit and climate controls setup remind us of the Accord sedan, as both sit on the opposite side of the air-vents.
Also, part of the package is a large centre console storage cubby that also includes cupholders, gear lever, and electronic parking brake. The driver's arena benefits from a new steering wheel with slim thinner three and nine o' spokes for driver assistance and media controls. There is also a digital instrument cluster and ergonomic window controls on the doors.
On the safety side, the all-new 11th-gen Civic will benefit from upgraded Honda Sensing safety and driver assistance systems. Further, the model will feature Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure that will provide improved occupant and pedestrian collision protection. Honda has also promised "advances in Civic’s driving refinement, ride quality, and sporty handling.”
