Great Wall Motor (GWM) recently launched its new division in the country wherein it announced the soon launch of its new EV, the Ora Good Cat. Also, China-bound EV is now open for booking via Go Auto Global, the automaker’s long-time local partner.

GWM Malaysia’s official website now includes a mini-site set up by Go Auto that serves the booking purpose. As for its launch, the GWM is expected to bring the EV to us by the end of this year, in Q4 2022.

Before the Ora Good Cat makes its way to the Malaysian shores, let us get to know it a bit in advance.

Ora Good Cat Price

The automaker is yet to reveal Ora Good Cat’s price, however, potential buyers can expect the EV to retail somewhere between RM 130k to RM 180k (depending on the variant chosen).

Ora Good Cat Variants

In Malaysia, the upcoming Ora Good Car EV will be offered in four variant options, namely Tech, Pro, Ultra, and Ultra G.

Ora Good Cat Platform

The Chinese EV sits on the Lemon Platform which is a platform technology of the future. Based on the intelligent modular tech the unit is evolving consistently. The setup offers powerful driving performance via electric power.

Ora Good Cat Powertrain

All the Ora Good Cat variants are powered by an electric motor generating maximum power of 143 PS along with a peak torque of 210 Nm. The drive is sent to the front wheels.

Ora Good Cat Performance

The Chinese EV offers a top speed of 152 kmph and comes with one-pedal driving. Improving the driving dynamics are five available drive modes - Normal, Sport, Eco, Eco+, and Auto.

Ora Good Cat Range

The Tech and Pro variants are equipped with a 48.7 kWh lithium battery that offers a range of 400 km(NEDC cycle). The Ultra trim, on the other hand, offers a range of 500 km, thanks to the bigger 63.1 kWh ternary lithium battery. The range-topping Ultra G is very much similar to the Ultra model and so is expected to offer the same range.

Ora Good Cat Charging

The 47.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery takes 8 hours to charge through AC charging with a max input of 6.6 kW. With DC fast charging, the battery goes from 0 to 80 percent in just 46 minutes at 60 kW.

The Ultra and Ultra G model’s batteries get fully charged in an hour with AC charging, as a 0-80 percent SoC takes about 40 minutes.

Ora Good Cat Exterior

The EV packs several features that not only add to the EVs utility side but also make it look intelligent and smart. Part of the car’s exterior kit is - Intelligent LED headlights, LED tail lights strip, 18-inch sport design alloy wheels, active air intake front grille, and spoiler & shark fin antenna.

The range-topping trims get a few additional features that surely justify their higher price point. For instance, automatic headlights, welcome light, and ORVM with memory function.

Ora Good Cat Interior

The EVs cabin is as good from the inside as it looks from the outside. It offers drivers and passengers a comfortable space wherein they can enjoy the luxury of a modern-day car. Part of the car’s spec kit is - a two-tone cabin, 17.25-inch integrated display, electric shifter, electric panoramic sunroof, and driver memory seat with a welcome seat system.

The higher-spec variants also get an electronic panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather upholstery, wireless phone charger, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, USB port, automatic air-con with a PM2.5 filter, and four speakers.

Ora Good Cat Safety

The Ora Good Cat is not just about good looks and modern cabin, it is more than that thanks to the pretty solid pack of safety features. Included in the standard list are - two SRS airbags, cruise control, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, low-speed emergency, and hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system.

The higher-spec variants also come equipped with rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree camera, and curtain airbags. The EV gets a range of active safety and driver assist systems, like adaptive cruise control with intelligent turning, automatic emergency braking with intersection support, traffic jam assist, front collision warning, lane departure warning, a wisdom dodge system, lane centre keeping and lane keeping assist.
