2021 Volvo S90 Recharge debuts at the Thailand Motor Expo
KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo first revealed the 2021 S90 Recharge model nine months back, and now the car is making its Thai-debut at the ongoing 37th Thailand International Motor Expo. The Recharge tag in the model name represents the presence of a plug-in hybrid powertrain and so the car will join the likes of XC40 Recharge PHEV T5.
On the styling front, the S90 PHEV model benefits from subtle design changes. Included in the list are a new front and rear bumper with a full-width chrome strip, hidden exhaust tips, and restyled tail lights. Further highlighting its revised status is the new Recharge badge at the rear which sure looks amazing.
The 2021 year model is offered in popular colour choices, like Thunder Grey Metallic, Crystal White Premium Metallic, Onyx Black Metallic, and new Platinum Grey Metallic.
On the inside, the S90 Recharge model gets a few additional features that add on to both comfort and convenience. For instance, active noise cancellation, new Bowers & Wilkins sound system with amplifier, new ‘Jazz Club’ audio profile, Care Key, wireless smartphone charger, and an Advanced Air Cleaner with PM2.5 particulate filter. On highlighting bit here is the Orrefors crystal knob that sure grabs attention.
Upholstery option includes Charcoal or Maroon Brown colour choice paired with Pitched Oak or Grey Ash finishes.
Volvo is numb about the car’s mechanical inputs, however, we expect the engine tunings to remain the same as before. So, a 407 hp and 640 Nm making 2.0-litre four-cylinder Drive-E unit with turbocharger, supercharger, and upgraded electric motor. The new 2021 model touches the 100 kmph mark in just 4.8 seconds.
Like all the Volvo Recharge cars, this one too is equipped with a 180 kmph speed limit system.
Overall the 2021 XC90 is the ultimate luxury SUV that offers unparalleled performance and ultimate comfort. The Thai-spec model will be offered in three trim options -
- XC90 Recharge PHEV T8 AWD Inscription
- XC90 Recharge PHEV T8 AWD R-Design
- XC90 Recharge PHEV T8 AWD R-Design Expression
More information is expected to come out in the upcoming months. As for the 2021 S90 Malaysian debut, we expect it to happen somewhere in early or mid-2021.
