Volvo C40 Recharge

The C40 Recharge retains the overall layout and features of the XC40 Recharge, which means that the SUV coupe has an all-black layout for the cabin with charcoal-themed interior inserts and headliner, well-contrasted by silver accents and topography décor for the dashboard. The cabin is wrapped in connected suede textile with Microtech upholstery while getting sport textile mats, high-level illumination, and aluminium pedals.

The cabin of the C40 Recharge looks premium and well-thought, with it having a 12-inch full-TFT driver display and a three-spoke steering wheel with satin chrome accents. The Volvo C40 Recharge shares its front look with the XC40 Recharge, which means that the former also gets a body-coloured covered ‘grille’ with tapered lower edges. The bonnet has nice and smoothly flowing contours, while the front bumper has T-shaped housings for the LED fog lamps. Even the almost-triangular all-LED headlamps go well with the rather clean design of the Volvo C40 Recharge, with them getting a slightly revised form of Thor’s hammer-shaped daytime running LEDs.

The rear profile of the Volvo C40 Recharge is where the real visual drama begins, with the drastically-sloping roofline working its magic in making the SUV coupe an attention grabber. Sitting on 19-inch five-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels, the rest of the design of the C40 Recharge looks rather clean. Though the large rounded wheel arches and side body mouldings give the C40 Recharge a muscular stance of a rugged vehicle.

The rear profile of the Volvo C40 Recharge also looks visually dramatic, with the steeply-raked windscreen having a roof-mounted spoiler with scoops on the sides and a boot-mounted spoiler on its lower edge. The C40 Recharge also gets sharp-looking vertically-aligned wraparound LED tail lamps, a clean design for the boot lid, and a muscular-looking rear bumper.

The Volvo C40 Recharge comes with Macpherson struts at the front and a multilink setup at the rear, both of which get coil springs and anti-roll bars. This suspension setup has been tuned for a comfort-oriented drive, however, the all-wheel drive layout and coupe-like roofline make sure that the C40 Recharge remains on its toes even under enthusiastic driving.

One of the most powerful and high-tech all-electric offerings in its price range, the C40 Recharge gets a dual-motor setup, which offers a combined power output of 408 PS and a combined peak torque output of 660 Nm. In addition to this all-wheel drive powertrain, the C40 Recharge also has a 78 kWh battery pack, which claims a range of 438 km and takes 7 hours and 38 minutes for a full charge through an AC supply. However, for a fast 10-80 percent charge using a DC supply, it takes only 24 minutes.

Being a Volvo, the C40 Recharge is high on safety parameters, with features like lane keeping aid, oncoming lane mitigation, tyre pressure monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, 360-degree park assist and camera, blind spot monitoring system and cross-traffic alert and rear collision warning.
