2021 Porsche Panamera unveiled, Turbo S variant added
KUALA LUMPUR: The second-gen Porsche Panamera premiered in 2016, and now after four-years, the luxurious auto brand has given the SUV a midlife update. The facelifted Panamera includes sublet but crucial changes like the inclusion of the powerful Turbo S and new plug-in hybrid variants.
Let’s now see what the facelifted Panamera SUV has in stock -
2021 Porsche Panamera body-style & model lineup -
The 2021 Porsche Panamera will be offered in three-body styles - Standard, Sport Turismo (estate), and Executive (long wheelbase). The model lineup includes the all-new Turbo S, GTS, and 4S e-Hybrid.
2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S variant -
Porsche has added a new Turbo S variant to the lineup. It is powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill found in the ongoing Turbo model. However, it churns out 630 hp (80 hp more) and 820 Nm (50 Nm more). Thanks to the power hike, the Panamera Turbo S variant displays impressive performance figures, i.e., 0 to 100 kmph in 3.1 seconds and 315 kmph of top speed.
The Turbo S benefits from standard performance-enhancing fitments like Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) roll stabilisation system, three-chamber air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and Torque Vectoring Plus.
The said variant also clocked a lap time of 7 mins 29.81 secs at the Nurburgring, which the company claims is a new record in the track ‘executive cars’ category.
2021 Porsche Panamera GTS variant -
Like the Turbo, the GTS trim has also received a power hike. The facelifted Panamera GTS is powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill that now gives out 20 hp more power, i.e., 480 hp and 620 Nm of torque. Also, it now gets a sport exhaust system with an asymmetrically-positioned silencer that offers an enhanced sound.
2021 Porsche Panamera 4S e-Hybrid -
The new Panamera 4S e-Hybrid is powered by a 2.9-litre V6 mill and an electric motor. Individually, the two chums out 440 hp and 136 hp, respectively, however, the combined output reads 560 hp and 750 Nm. With so much power in hand, the 4S e-Hybrid can touch 100 kmph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 298 kmph. The facelift model electric motor gets a bigger battery (17.9 kWh) compared to the ongoing variant (14.1 kWh). The new Panamera offers an electric-only range of 54 km.
