2021 Mini Countryman launched in Malaysia, price starts at RM 244,265

KUALA LUMPUR: The British automotive marque Mini revamped the small and stylish Countryman in May last year, which now made its way to the Malaysian market. With subtle tweaks inside and out, the all-new Mini Cooper Countryman is now available in two variants; the Mini Cooper S Countryman, and Mini Cooper SE Countryman PHEV. Both trims are locally-assembled.

Talking about the exterior enhancements, the new Countryman features a different front bumper, new LED DRLs, redesigned air intake, and vertical front corner intakes. The tail end also gets new reflectors and LED tail lamps featuring a Union Jack design indicating British national pride. The rear bumper is now completely covered in body-color and sports a prominent skid plate-style panel.

In addition, the SE trim gets E badging and 19-inch Mini Yours British Spoke alloy wheels. The available colour options include Chili Red, White Silver, Island Blue, Thunder Grey, British Racing Green, and Sage Green.

Under the bonnet, the two variants incorporate the same powertrains available with the outgoing models. These are:

• 8.8-inch infotainment display with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
• 12-speaker Harman Kardon HiFi sound system
• Wireless charging pad
• Carbon black leather seat upholstery

As for safety, the updated crossover has a Driving Assistant package as a standard appointment, which includes systems like autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beam, speed limit information, and so on. Other features are six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, stability control, and a reverse camera.

The 2021 Mini Cooper S Countryman is priced at RM 244,265, while the Cooper SE Countryman plug-in hybrid crossover retails for RM 254,461. The prices are on the road, without insurance, and inclusive of sales tax exemptions.
