2021 Hyundai Elantra teased in Malaysia, likely to launch soon
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai Malaysia recently rolled out the all-new Kona compact SUV and the new Sonata sedan, and now it is gearing up to add one more gem in the lineup, the 2021 Elantra. The company teased the model on its Facebook page yesterday indicating the arrival of the new C-segment sedan in the town to take on the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Mazda 3 Sedan.
So now when the teaser campaign has been started, several questions arise in the minds of the Hyundai fans regarding the Hyundai Elantra launch, the Hyundai Elantra price, the Hyundai Elantra features, and so on. But sadly, the automaker has not provided any such details with the teaser, and only showcased a front view of the seventh-generation Elantra with a caption, “The futurist with a unique personality. Dare to be you. Get ready to be surprised.”
With a strikingly new design, updated technology, and a bundle of interesting features, the 2021 Elantra made its global debut back in March. Talking about the exterior aesthetics, the new Elantra dons the brand’s new Sensuous Sportiness design language with a new 3D cascading grille blended with a pair of LED headlamps featuring DRLs, a sharply sculpted bumper, and sharp character lines on the bonnet.
Overall, the front fascia looks more elegant and flowy which is complemented by 17-inch diamond-cut alloy rims. The bulged-out tail end of the sedan features an LED strip connecting the LED taillamps, a glossy black underbody deck, and a sharply designed rear bumper.
Getting inside, the sedan has a completely renovated cabin and a minimalistic designed dashboard that has horizontal lines seamlessly merging with the air-vents. A new steering wheel, new gear level, and twin 10.25-inch touchscreen displays, one for the infotainment and the other for the instrumentation are also there.
Other tech goodies comprise a voice-recognition system, Qi wireless smartphone charging pad, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto support, a 64-color LED mood lighting system, Blue Link Connected Car System, and eight-speaker Bose premium sound system.
Under the hood, base models incorporate a 2.0-litre MPI Atkinson Cycle engine churning 147 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 179 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. For the gearbox, there is an Intelligent Variable Transmission that drives the front wheels. The sedan is available with a hybrid powertrain in certain markets.
As for safety, Hyundai offers a list of driver-assist systems including standard automatic emergency braking, driver attention monitoring system, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, highway driving assist, and lane-keep assist.
So these were the key highlights of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra available in the international market; to know what Hyundai has on cards for Malaysia, stay tuned with us.
