2021 Hyundai Elantra launch soon in Malaysia; bookings open
KUALA LUMPUR: With a new parametric dynamics design, the seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra made its global debut back in March. The new version looks sharper than ever and naturally more hi-tech as it adopted few tech features from its elder sibling, the Sonata. Now after almost eight months, the sedan is all set to hit the Malaysian market.

Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has already teased the new Elantra on its social media and also revealed its engine and transmission details. Now, it announced that the sedan will be launched in Malaysia by the end of 2020, which is just weeks away!
In the local market, Hyundai offers the seventh-generation Elantra in a single variant only, whose bookings are now open. Talking about the new Elantra price, the company has currently released a ballpark figure of “RM 1XX,888”.
Positioned in the C-segment sedan category, the upcoming Elantra is the company’s first model to be fitted with an intelligent transmission, which offers class-leading performance and fuel economy, according to Hyundai. The transmission is paired with the Smartstream G1.6 MPi gasoline engine, capable of generating 123 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and a peak torque of 154 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) Managing Director, Mr. Low Yuan Lung said the new Elantra will thrill the market with its differentiating design, inspired by geometric crystals’ cut body surfaces. He further added, “Not only does the car exude sophistication and sportiness, but it also offers a fulfilling driving experience. The Elantra provides exciting driving dynamics with the new Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Hyundai’s new IVT boasts superior fuel efficiency, improved performance, and highly responsive gear change with the incorporation of a gear shift response strategy.”
In terms of equipment, the local-spec Elantra will be fitted with LED projector headlamps, LED taillamps, and 17-inch wheels wrapped with 225/45 tyres on the outside. Inside, it features an “immersive cocoon” interior comprising two harmoniously connected 10.25-inch Supervision TFT instrument panel and an 8-inch floating display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, along with a wireless charging pad.
As for safety, the new Elantra specs sheet gets Hyundai’s SmartSense suite of safety and driver assistance features, including blind-spot collision warning, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, lane following assist, smart cruise control, and driver attention warning.
