2021 Hyundai Elantra debuts with refreshing style and tech

KUALA LUMPUR: From quite some time, Hyundai has been working pretty hard to revise its current lineup and offer some new and interesting models to its customers. After revising a series of crossovers, Hyundai presented the 2020 Sonata and now finally Hyundai has pulled the wraps off from of its most likeable sedans, the 2021 Elantra. The South Korean automaker unveiled its newest offering in California, USA and it certainly stands out with more character, improved dimensions and a completely revamped tech. At a glance you can easily make out that Elantra has borrowed the designing skeleton, much from Sonata, that was unveiled last year. The cabin has been upgraded to live up to the automaker’s current theme and a hybrid powertrain option has also been given for the first time.

Hyundai removed the heavyset looks of the car and replaced them with a more aggressive design. The new Elantra is wider with short overhangs at the front, which is contributing much to its revised look. A new platform is offering the supporting structure to the car and stretching the wheelbase in length. It also has a four-door coupe appearance along with revamped lighting design and new body lines.
Talking about the exterior aesthetics of the car, the new Hyundai Elantra don's new 3D cascading grille which is blended with a pair of LED headlamps. Integrated with LED Daytime Running Lights, the design tweak here is the sweptback style which makes it look like two horns on either side. This adds to a much aggressive look of the front fascia. At the upfront, the bumper looks sharply sculpted and the bonnet also sports sharp character lines. Overall, the front designing looks more flowy and elegant which is complemented by 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheel designs.

Going to the rear section of the car, we see that Hyundai has probably been more fanatical with the styling. It looks more like the concept car.The bulged-out tail section of the car features the Hyundai logo which seems what is separated with LED strip connecting the LED taillamps. Glossy black underbody deck and sharply designed rear bumper are also prominently noticeable.
Getting to the inside of the car a completely renovated cabin and minimalistic designed dashboard, welcomes you. The dashboard has horizontal lines that seamlessly contour to merge with the air-vents, giving it an expansive look. You also spot a new steering wheel and gear level, which is also featured the new Creta.

Hyundai adds a smidgen of new features to the Elantra which were once reserved to be incorporated in highly-priced vehicles. The best thing about the new Elantra is that it is loaded with new technology and gets an 8-inch touchscreen with ubiquitous features like Apple Carplay and Android Auto, though they are making their debut to this segment. A higher variant gets a 10.3-inch touchscreen that is complemented with a similar size digital gauge cluster.

On the safety front, Hyundai offers a list of security and driver-assist systems like standard automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and driver attention monitoring system. Hyundai’s signature BlueLink connected technology also forms.

The punchline here is that Hyundai is offering Elantra Hybrid for the first time. It is powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four engine paired with an electric motor, igniting out 139 horsepower and a whooping 195 pound-feet of torque.

We cannot speculate on the pricing of this new offering from Hyundai, but it is sure to create a commotion in this segment with styling envelope and technology game.
