2021 Honda City Hatchback: What’s on offer?
Honda recently expanded its City franchise by adding two new models - the City hatchback and the City hybrid. Both cars are currently on sale in Thailand and we hope they arrive in other ASEAN countries soon. Before these cars arrive in the local market, which we hope happens soon, let’s discuss what the City hatch has on offer.
Honda City hatchback variants
In the Thai-market, the City hatch is offered in three trim options, that is one more than the City sedan. Included in the variant list is the base S+, mid-spec SV, and range-topping RS variant.

Compared to the Thai-spec City sedan, the hatch version is a bit pricer. The sedan price range goes from 579,000 baht (approx. RM 78,152) to 739,000 baht (approx. RM 99,662).

Honda City hatchback exterior
The front profile of the City hatch is borrowers clues from the sedan version. The two share the same headlamp, grille, bumper, and bonnet design. Similarly, the side profile gets City sedan like the prominent character line - above the door handles, linking the front and rear lighting units. The rear gets unique characteristics like Mercedes-Benz A-Class like taillight design, a longer roofline that meets the roof spoiler, steeply-raked rear window, slimmer reflector, rear bumper with a recessed lip, and more upright C-pillar.
2021 City exterior colour options: Taffeta White, Red Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Meteor Grey Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Sonic Grey Pearl.
Honda City hatchback interior
Like the exterior, the interior of the City hatch looks pretty much like its sedan sibling. On the dashboard comes fitted with a multi-info display, multi-functional steering wheel, an 8-inch touch display Advanced Touch head unit and large air vents. On the centre stack are present air-con system controls, USB ports, a power outlet, and a small storage cubby. The centre console stocks two cup holders, gear lever, handbrake, more storage areas, including one under the armrest in SV and RV trim.
One major difference between the sedan and the hatch version is that the latter comes with Ultra Seats (allowing four-seat arrangements) and offers more legroom than the former.
Honda City hatchback engine
Powering the City hatch is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder VTEC turbo making a maximum power of 122 PS at 5,500 rpm along with a peak of 173 Nm from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via continuously variable transmission.
