2016 Proton Perdana Specs Out, Now Available for General Public!
Kuala Lumpur: Ring the Bells and play the whistles as the heavily anticipated 2016 Proton Perdana is ashore. The initial specifications of the 2016 Perdana were revealed at a recent media event, which was disguised in the name of ‘interview with the CEO of Proton'.
Proton Perdana 2016 was showcased with a presentation at the event held at Proton Design Centre in Shah Alam in front of a select audience from the motoring scene in Malaysia. This included the major automotive and business journalists along with the Proton Chairman Tun Mahathir Mohamad and the CEO of Proton Malaysia in action Mr Dato Harith Abdullah.
As per the reports from The Malay Mail Online, it was strictly advised not to click any pictures of the real car, however, YS Khong managed to click the above image with excerpts from the presentation.
Sources suggest that the 2016 Perdana is now officially available for common public booking. However, the price and the official launch date of the car is not yet confirmed by Proton. Although, it can be speculated that the all new Proton Perdana will come around a price tag between RM100K – RM150K and it might be coming to the Proton dealerships all across the country by the end of the first quarter.
This Proton car will be made available in two engine choices of 2.4 litres and 2.0 litres. The 2.4 litre DOHC engine under the hood is an i-VTEC engine coming from Japan and churns out a maximum power of 181 hp at 6500 rpm along with a peak torque of 222 Nm at 4300 rpm. While the 2.0 Litre i-VTEC delivers 154 hp at 6300 rpm with a maximum torque of 189 Nm at 4300 rpm. Both the engines deliver the power to the front axles of the car owing to its 5-speed automatic transmission.
Proton recently revised its official logo to enhance its brand awareness and it looks like the Perdana will be the first car to feature it. The major features in the 2016 Perdana will be the presence of paddle shifters and cruise control beneath the steering along with an updated infotainment system added with GPS navigation and reverse camera visual. Proton has tried its best to escalate the comfort of this car by introducing dual-zone automatic air-conditioning along with power-adjustable driver’s seat and tilt and telescopic steering.
The standard safety features were revealed that include the dual-airbags along with an enhanced braking mechanism of ABS, EBD and ESC.
