Perodua Bezza GXtra: What's new?
Perodua was established in 1992. Today it has grown into this giant car company. In fact, it is one of the largest car manufacturers in Malaysia. At present, its product lineup includes four vehicles - Alza, Axia, Myvi, and Bezza.
The Bezza received an overwhelming response in the market. It brought with it many ‘firsts’ for Perodua - first sedan, the first vehicle to feature Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), company's first model to feature stop-start idling and regenerative braking. Now, Perodua has introduced a new variant of this important sedan, and it is called the Bezza GXtra. So, what is so new about it? Let us find out.
Exterior
Perodua designed the Bezza with fuel economy as the primary objective. Consequently, apart from having an economical engine, start-stop idling, and regenerative braking, the Bezza has got a very aerodynamic design. With its latest Bezza GXtra, Perodua has tried to enhance the overall appearance of the car without disturbing its aerodynamic elements.
The new Bezza GXtra has got sleek side skirts. These add a bit of sportiness to the car’s stance. Addition of the skirts might just lure in more young customers. The other new feature that you will find on the Bezza GXtra is the chrome door handles. The body-colored, usual door handles were not bad, but these look that much more premium. They complement the front chrome grille and the wide chrome slat at the rear brilliantly.
To further enhance the attractiveness of the new Bezza GXtra, Perodua has also provided a magnificent Ocean Blue paint scheme, which was initially available only with the 1.3L variant of the car.
Interior
The interior of the Bezza has got this black ambience which is very soothing. There is a good amount of space for all passengers. Then there are a host of useable features like push start/stop button, multipurpose compartment, headphone slot and USB port, luggage net, under-luggage compartment, boot space of 508-litre, smart key, multimedia system with navigation, etc.
On top of these, the new Perodua Bezza GXtra gets a piano black trim on the dashboard. It covers the area above the glove box and surrounds the multimedia system. It does make the car’s cabin look more premium. Perodua has also upgraded the Bluetooth connectivity in this new model.
We can also see a new satin finish around the AC vents, on the gear lever, and on the steering wheel, which, unfortunately, is not wrapped in leather. To match the outside chrome door handles, the inside door handles are also given the chrome treatment.
The new Perodua Bezza GXtra will replace the 1.0 Standard G model. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67 horsepower and 91 Nm of peak torque. This engine along with the aerodynamic design of the car, start/stop idling functionality, and regenerative braking, forms a complete package for a fuel-efficient car. The Bezza GXtra comes with two transmission options - a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
It is interesting to note that Perodua has provided more features in the Bezza GXtra, but it costs less than the standard G variant of the car. The manual variant of the GXtra costs RM 35,000, whereas the standard G variant of the same model is priced at RM 36,035. Similarly, to buy the automatic variant of the new Bezza GXtra, you will need to pay RM 37,500, whereas the same model of the standard G variant would cost you RM 37,980.
We will say, a job very well done, Perodua.
