Mini 5-Door - Key features
The MINI hatch is one of the hottest premium small cars to be available in the country right now and promises more than just its size. The country offers this small car in two main body styles, the 3-door and the 5-door versions.
The MINI 5-door is nothing short of being the style icon that is perfectly fitted inside a package to be more into a pleasurable day-to-day-driving. The practicality of 5-doors, paired up with the agility and go-kart styling, make for the perfect small car.
Thinking of owning the MINI 5-door hatch? Here are the key features you need to know before making the purchase.
Size
The MINI 5-door is more like a daily-driving hatchback with a lot of room in the cabin. The legroom is given in abundance for both the rows. In fact, being around 160 mm longer than the 3-door sibling, the extra space has been wisely utilised to increase the cabin room and cargo hold.
Design
If you had to define “stunning”, the MINI 5-door hatchback would be the perfect answer. Starting off with the front, the grille, rounded headlamps and the heritage winged logo of the brand don the looker. The round-shaped headlamps are perfectly carved and sculpted to offer wonderful illumination, but not without LED units on them.
Moreover, thanks to the John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit, the 5-door is now more than just a hatchback. The kit adds an extra punch of attractiveness while complementing the sportiness perfectly.
Interior
The punches and attractions aren’t restricted to the exterior design only. The all-black interior theme inside makes the sportiness surge higher. The seats are wrapped in Carbon Black leather cross upholstery that is extremely comfortable.
The front dashboard is finished in Piano Black and has an illuminated cockpit that looks so amazing and unique in its class. The steering wheel of the John Cooper Works adds to the racing performance feel, especially with the fine leather wrapping.
MINI Connected
We all know how attractive the MINI 5-door looks from the inside. The rounded design of the dashboard and cockpit is unique, especially with the circular border for the touchscreen display.
Yes, the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system is encircled within illuminated borders and have the USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Moreover, the newly made MINI Connected has a very simple interface for the apps and offer a wide range of driver’s information.
Also, the smartphone connectivity enables ‘last parked’ feature, which tells the driver where the car is parked via satellite image and also provides the walking distance direction.
Technology and entertainment
There is a head-up unit always set up right in front of the driver at all times. And guess what, with the help of this high-contrast display, you will surely never miss the fun that road has on offer. And yes, not to forget, it is always safer to never take the eyes off the road while driving.
The entertainment system is connected to a 12-speaker set sourced from Harman Kardon. The 22 cm subwoofers are put beneath the seat to get the base right high.
Ride quality
MINI has designed the suspension to be so dynamic that you will barely notice any differences in the ride quality even if the roads have changed. The adaptive suspension is an intelligent system that can change itself while on the ride.
The system is smart enough to adjust both the rebound and the compression depending on the current road condition so that the driving and comfort is never compromised.
Power and performance
The MINI 5-door hatch is powered by the same engine that works under the hood of the smaller sibling. The 2.0-litre, inline 4-cylinder engine is good enough to be delivering a maximum power output of 192 PS along with a highest torque of 280 Nm. The maximum power comes at anywhere between 5,000 to 6,000 RPM on the tacho while the peak torque comes to the fore starting from 1,350 RPM.
With such power on the throttle (especially the low-range torque), the car can do the 0-100 kmph in just 6.8 seconds, mere 0.1 second slower than the 3-door counterpart. The rated top speed is 235 kmph.
Our verdict
The MINI 5-door hatch is much more than what the 3-door model is. Though there isn’t a lot of technical and mechanical differences between the two, it's the bigger sibling that looks more practical and can pitch to a larger audience due to its more conventional approach to the uniqueness.
So, at the given price tag and with the practicality, the 5-door MINI is always the go-to go-kart car for you.
