5 Interesting ways to accessories your new Honda Civic
The Honda Civic is the car of choice for an incredibly large number of people worldwide. That does not mean that the people who buy it are completely satisfied with it. Nothing bears more truth to this fact than the existence of the large customizing scene that specifically focuses on the Civic.
While Honda itself offers a large number of customizing options, the aftermarket scene is quite different. People looking to add their own touch of individuality to their Civics, are spoilt for choice. Here then are a few ways you can make your Civic stand out from the rest.
New Wheels and Tires
Probably the first thing you would think of. Depending on your choice, they will also not affect or even improve your ride quality and handling too much. The mileage could be affected too. The effect on the car’s looks, however, will be astounding. The stock car comes with 16’ or 17’ inch wheels that don’t look too bad themselves. The obvious next step would be 18’ then. These will give the car a better stance and a lower profile. Follow it up with some larger tires and suddenly your car is even sportier. Larger contact patch and lower profile can do wonders for a car’s handling.
Sound Upgrade
A better sound system can make you regret and forget your old setup instantly. The Honda comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment and an 8-speaker sound system. But for some even that many speakers simply does not cut it. The Civic and indeed any car will benefit hugely from newer and bigger speakers. Car makers spend a lot of time finding the best places to put speakers in their already cramped interiors. Car owners, therefore, are best advised to not fiddle too much with the placement and just focus on getting bigger speakers and subwoofers.
New Body trim and Spoilers
Whether your car is old or brand spanking new, modifying the exteriors add character and head turning ability. Honda provides its own Modulo package that adds under spoilers in the Front, Rear and sides. The best addition, however, is the trunk spoiler that blends very well with the already sporty rear. Mugen can offer something even more extreme in the future. The aftermarket has your back too and will happily oblige all your ricer needs. But why stop with the exterior? The interior can be similarly spruced up with dash and console trims options. But don’t go too crazy as it adds weight and often hampers the aerodynamics ruining the mileage. Badly fitted trim pieces can make your life hell with squeaks and rattles.
Exhaust system
Changing the exhaust system can have many benefits. More power, more noise, better looks are all up on offer. New exhaust can improve the character of your car to a massive degree. They also become a necessity if you are going to get performance upgrades. The engine needs to breathe freely if it has to efficiently burn its fuel. The New Civic is the first to ever get a two tipped exhaust system. The enthusiast, however, would want something faster and lighter. The aftermarket has got your back here too.
Performance Upgrades
Now we are into some Fast and Furious-level territory. Honda would probably not recommend its buyers to go for any of these options as showcased in the movie. Yet, a whole lot of Civics will make a beeline to these. Everything from brake pads, braided brake lines, lowered springs, cold air intakes, oil coolers, intercoolers to ECU mapping are on offer. There are some very big brands that offer tons of these options for the Civic. These can, however, change the dynamics of the car drastically. Mileage can go down. Power output and delivery can become strange. Ride comfort could vanish. Buyers should inform themselves about the effects of these modifications before committing to them.
When your car can be seen everywhere, it is natural that you would want to make it different from the rest. But this game is not for everyone. Some of us should stick with our stock cars.
