5 Features Chery Omoda 5 gets over the Honda HR-V

Chery has recently rolled out its new B-segment SUV, the Omoda 5, in the Malaysian market. The SUV is packed with an impressive array of features that not only leave a lasting impression but keep it ahead of its competitors. Among the top rivals of the Omoda 5 in Malaysia is the Honda HR-V. In today’s story, we will explore the five standout features of the Chery Omoda 5 that give it an edge over the Honda SUV, making it a lucrative and appealing option for discerning SUV buyers.

Bigger displays

While the Honda HR-V boasts an 8-inch infotainment display, the Chery Omoda 5 takes it up a notch with a larger 10.25-inch screen. Notably, the former offers wired support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, whereas the latter is one step above with wireless connectivity for smartphone devices. The Chery SUV also features a 10.25-inch Dynamic metre cluster, while the Honda SUV is fitted with a 7-inch TFT metre.

Premium sound system

The top-spec version of the Omoda 5 offers an exceptional sound experience to occupants thanks to the SONY premium audio system mated to eight well-tuned speakers. In contrast, the HR-V has a standard audio system paired with four speakers and 4 tweeters (only available with range-topping RS trim). Thus, the Chery SUV tends to offer a more luxurious sound quality.

Ventilated front seats

The front-row seats of the Omoda 5 come with a ventilation function that keeps you cool. This means air flows through small openings in the seats, helping you stay comfortable on warm days. However, no such feature is offered with the HR-V.

Wireless charger

The 5-seater Chery SUV also has one more convenient feature up its sleeve, i.e., a wireless smartphone charging system. You just simply need to place your smartphone on a special pad installed on the central console, and it will start charging without needing any cords. With the Honda SUV, we do not get this comfort feature.

Dynamic Ambient light

The Honda HR-V comes with LED front roof ambient light that not only adds a touch of sophistication to the cabin but also creates a welcoming atmosphere for both the driver and passengers. However, the Chery Omoda 5 takes the concept of interior lighting to the next level with its dynamic 64 multi-colour ambient light system. It offers a wide array of colours that match your mood or preferences and provides a captivating visual experience.

While the Chery Omoda 5 has the mentioned equipment benefits over the Honda HR-V, the latter also has several distinguishing features, such as an 8-way power driver seat, front auto wiper, sports paddles, multi-utility seats, paddle shifters, and more.

Speaking about their prices and engine specifications - the Chery Omoda 5 comes in two versions in Malaysia, viz C and H, priced at RM 108,800 and RM 118,800. Both variants are powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four powertrain, which kicks out 158 PS of maximum power and 230 Nm of peak torque.

The Honda HR-V is being offered in four variants - S, Turbo E, Turbo V, and RS e:HEV. Pricing begins at RM 115,900 and goes up to RM 141,900. The base-spec S runs on a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated DOHC i-VTEC engine making 121 PS and 145 Nm. The E and V trims, on the contrary, come equipped with a 1.5-litre VTEC turbo unit, which is good for making 181 PS and 240 Nm. Sitting at the top of the lineup, the HR-V RS e:HEV is fueled by a hybrid mill combining a 1.5-litre mill and an e-motor, together churning out 131 PS and 253 Nm.
